The Ford Revolution
On September 27th 1908 the first Ford Model T motor car rolled off the assembly line. It wasn't the first car to be built, nor the first assembly line, but it was a moment that would change the world – the first time an assembly line technique was used to produce cars that nearly everyone could afford.
Henry Ford's vision was to build a car for the "great multitude". Originally assembled by hand, by 1914 the Ford T could be produced on an assembly line in 93 minutes (reducing the production time by nearly 11 hours). The Model T cemented Ford's success – by the time he had made his 10 millionth car, 9 out of 10 of all cars in the entire world were Fords.
