high i just have a comment on the episode on the IRA and Brighton bombings......... generally i enjoy the programme and the channel, but i was not totaly happy with the content and facts in the show... i found the show very biased and feel that it created the impression that the british forces were saints among men in Nothern Ireland, not mentiong the reactions and actions of the unionists and british during the troubles... maybe touching on it with bloody sunday section...... also the facts i feel were not of a high standard and that some were completely wrong such stating that de Valera declared the south a republic in 1939... it was infact not until 1949 and de Valera NEVER declared Ireland a republic in his political career

I wish to inform the maker & presenter that this episode is a misguided, unresearched with full of misinformations. the claim that the Tamil community are descendents of plantation workers is totally wrong. Portuguese captured the Jaffna kingdom in1619, British came in 1798. 1815 they concurred the Kandyan king who signed the treaty with british in Tamil because he was a Tamil ruling the upcountry sinhalese,Tamil kings ruled Kandy from 1739 till1815. Tamils lived in the island from antiquity. evidence Five Siva Temples in the Island Saints from South india have praised these temples in their Hymns sung long before Christ. more than 50% of sinhalese are Tamil in Origin. Buddism which spread in 243 BC by King Asoka converted the Tamils to buddhism. Influnce from south India converted the Tamils in the Northeast of the Island back into Hindusim in the 3rd to7th century AD. this fear of reverting back to hinduism, is reflected in the Mahavamsa written in Pali around 6th century AD. those who were in the south as buddhist remained as buddhist. The Sinhala language only came to existence after 8th century AD, before that they spoke Tamil or colloquial tamil called Eluand pali.Pali because the buddhist literature was written in Pali &sanskrit. Sinhala languague is mixture of pali,sanskrit and Tamil. Genatic study has shown that sinhalese are closer to Tamils than north Indians or so called Aryans. In summary after independece from Britian in 1948 Tamils faced discriminated and marginalised because Tamils were favoured by British. denial of political and rights to be equal citizens created the frustrations,Tamil politicians tried till1977 to gain our fundamental rights as citizens. What we see as Tamil Youth Militency which turned out into all out war since mid 1980's. terrorism is weaker groups weapon,Aerial bombing and shelling Is State Terrorism. your account of 60,000 is near 100,000 mostly tamil civilians, and combatants from both side.these deaths are by State security and not tigers alone. cultural & ethnic genocide conducted by Srilankan state since 1956. so please get your facts right and do not misled the public who view your programmes.
