Great programme about the "Bevin Boys" down the mines during WW2.
We have one such person in our village and since the war he has lived with the stigma of being a concentious objector. Far from the truth as he was conscripted to the mines rather than the services.He had no choice.
I hope this series will enlighten people as to how hard they worked, especially as most soldiers were demobbed in 1945 but the Bevin Boys kept working until 1948.
