I have cut my stock of shoes down to about 50 now. Had a clear out as some were so old fashioned and my wardrobe was busting at the seams. Still I am left with loads I never wear but cannot make myself throw away. I wear the same pair every day and rarely go out so the others just sit and fester!

I too am like this - but with bags also! Affectionately named the 'bag lady' but not because i look like a tramp - it's because i have a handbag to go with every conceivable outfit. I hardly ever use them and often forget i've got them until i go on holiday. I love unusual looking shoes but my funny shaped feet prevent me from buying nice sandals (I have arthritis and it makes my bunions worse). I don't think i've thrown a bag out in about 6 years and even then because it was well and truly worn.

auntie marion, why don't you wear your shoes?? Surely if you don't want to throw them away its because you still find a time to wear them all!! Perhaps, if you do start to wear them, then you won't feel so guilty about having so many. Also, some of your old-fashioned shoes may be worth keeping because vintage is HUGE at the moment and many old styles are coming back. Soosie1, the same with you - start using your bags! its great that you've got a bag to go with every outfit and contrary to what you and others may think, this puts you at an advanatage - you will always have a perfectly co-ordinated outfit! With your shoe thing, its unfortunate about your arthritis. However, since sandles are not an option, it is worth experimenting with court shoes and boots instead. There is an unbelievably wide variety of shoes out there - even in flat heels, which i assume you must be resricted too, for comfort. xxx

I Have loads of shoes and bags, In all colours, I find if I go shopping and cant find an outfit I like I will buy a pair of shoes. I dont wear all of them and some are still new in the box in the back of the wardrobe. 10 Years ago I bought a pair of Red Satin Dolly shoes with a 3" heel, They cost me £380 from a designer shop but they wear so beautiful I had to have them. They stayed in the wardeobe for 7 years, When 3 years ago we decided to get married I took the shoes to a dress maker and had a beautiful Red satin dress made to match, The dress cost me £200, (less than the shoes) but it was worth the 7 year wait Everyone was amazed at my choice of coulour even my husband but he said I looked stunning. I work hard to earn my money and if I want to spend it on shoes I will, Tongue

I don't see the excitement of shoes.

But I do have a lovely pair of hairy red flowery trainers, they cost me £5.

I am proud to say that I have a passion for shoes!! They finish off any outfit. If I am going somewhere and cant find something new to wear I often find wearing something I already have but then jazzing up with new accessories and of course new shoes and bag just does the trick perfectly. Everyone has to have a passion and its better than most boys passion of footie lets face it. Kathy_ I dont understand why you dont see the excitement but everyone is different. Maybe the flowery trainers show that you have a secret hidden passion waiting to get out Big Grin

I do quite like weird trainers and stuff like that, although I don't like heels or anything. or shopping! so I don't think I could be a shoe addict.

It's been a while since we commented on this one!
Restrictions on shoes - since i last wrote, I've had a sports injury (swimming - torn soft tissue from severe cramp believe it or not!) and i'm even more restricted. I usually need a small heel - about 1.5" is my highest as my job befits smart shoes, when i'm away.
However, i agree that if you can't find an outfit - shoes usually do the trick. I prefer court shoes but lower heeled. I like slimline trainers for the gym - chunky ones are sometimes too hard on the sole. I've started using my bags more - mainly to jazz up a smart work suit and the amount of people who comment is amazing - bring on the bag sale, the bag lady is on the prowl!
