Baby Squad
Our Baby Squad Experts
The three experts featured on Baby Squad have a rather impressive wealth of skills and experience, covering the spectrum of dilemmas and teething troubles you might come up against with your little ones.
In each episode, presenter Patsy Palmer and the mums around the table choose one of the three experts, matching up their expertise to the dilemma facing the family in question.
The children are in excellent hands. Our three Baby Squad childcare experts include: child-care practitioner and maternity nurse Jo Bish; senior lecturer, health visitor and columnist Dawn Kelly; and behaviour management consultant Sue Gill.
Jo Bish
Jo is a qualified and highly experienced child-care practitioner who has gained a wide range of experience in the fourteen years she has worked with children. She has gained a great deal of expertise with babies in their first year of life, in private homes, and in hospital on labour, post natal and special care wards. In her role as a maternity nurse, Jo has developed the belief that it is a complete myth that sleepless nights and chaotic days are inevitable and unpreventable after the birth of a baby.
Jo qualified with an NNEB. Diploma in 1992 and has also had experience setting up and running a 43-place government funded Neighbourhood Nursery for children aged from 3 months to 5 years of age. She also sat on the Brighton and Hove Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership and was Chair of the Brighton and Hove Pre-school Learning Alliance.
Dawn Kelly
Dawn Kelly (here pictured on the right of the picture) is a senior lecturer and health visitor. Her background is in paediatric nursing and over the years she has built up specialist knowledge of child health, development, psychology and parenting skills. Dawn has gone on to forge a successful career as a health visitor and practice educator for the Harrow PCT.Recently, Dawn has had work published in the Community Practitioners’ journal, presented papers at the annual Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Conference and written a column in Prima magazine dealing with parental concerns.

She was an officer in charge in a private day nursery working with children from birth to 5 years and more recently, has worked for the Bolton PCT NHS trust as part of the health visiting team. For the last 16 years, Sue has specialised in behaviour management offering families support on a one-to-one and group basis.
