Make a Beaded Throw Video
A great throw can do much more than conceal a grotty old sofa. Rich, velvety fabrics and intricate trimmings evoke a feeling of decadence and grandeur that will seep into the atmosphere. With the right materials and a little know-how you can create your very own luxury beaded throw.
Time to complete the job: 2 hours
Approximate budget: £25
You will need:
- A large piece of velvet or rich fabric
- A piece of satin the same size
- Beaded trim or fringe
- A needle
- Sewing thread
- A sewing machine
Sew the fabric together
Lay out both pieces of fabric so that the right sides are together i.e. the satin and the velvet are on the inside. Machine-sew the layers together, going around all the edges but leaving a large opening of about 30 cm (1 foot) at the top in the centre.Turn it inside out
Cut away the excess fabric on the corners so that you'll have nice sharp points on your throw.Turn it inside out by pulling the material through the opening that you left at the top. This should be quite easy because the satin is nice and slippery.
Lay your throw flat on your work surface.
