I Hate My Bum!
If you think nature has handed you a bum deal, it could be time for a rethink. Is it all in the mind or has over-indulgence given you good cause to lose a little off the back?
Our Agony Aunt cuts to the chase, suggesting that maybe the bottom line calls for a little less talk and a little more (treadmill) action...
Dear Debbie
I'm obsessed with the size of my bum. I know this sounds silly, but I'm conscious of it all the time. I don't even get undressed in front of my husband, although he says he likes my shape. I can't afford plastic surgery (I'm scared of surgery anyway!) but I'm 37 and I feel it's only going to get worse from here. What can I do?

Hi there,
To be honest, I think you really need to get a grip. I don't wish to sound unsympathetic, but it sounds like a bit of an over-reaction to me.
You say your husband likes your shape and presumably your bum too - so how lucky are you?! You are married to someone who thinks you're gorgeous, but for some reason that's not good enough.
As far as surgery is concerned, I cannot believe that you have even considered it - and find myself relieved that it is beyond your means.
The basic problem you have is in your head - and not on your backside. Be confident about yourself and your looks. Trust me, you'll be far more attractive - to both men and women - than some bimbo who happens to measure 36-24-36. So stop this nonsense.
If, however, you decide - in a rational way - that you would like to work on reducing your hip size, then you need to make sure you're eating the right things, increase your exercise regime and re-think your wardrobe a little.
Concentrate your physical activity on working the muscles in your bottom. Do some high-intensity training - running, brisk walking, swimming. Try running uphill to work the thighs and bottom more. If you don't have access to a treadmill and hate running outdoors, run up and down stairs - lots of times.
There are heaps of exercise books available which teach you how to target particular areas. Try to exercise each day and you'll soon see a difference as your backside firms up.
Try to cut down on fats and unnecessary processed carbohydrates (cakes, pastries, sweet cereals) and limit your intake of bread, pasta, rice and so on. If you really stick to a diet and exercise program, you are bound to see a difference.
Luckily for you, the fashion this season is perfect for girls with a pear shape. Maxi dresses and tops that emphasise the bust and cover up the rest are everywhere. Invest in a couple of pretty, floaty tops to wear with cropped trousers.
Most of all - enjoy your shape. JoLo is famous for her large bum, so enjoy it - your husband obviously does!
Best of luck!
Debbie
