Meet Caryn Franklin
Caryn writes, speaks, teaches and lives fashion - so we couldn't find a better presenter to host The Clothes Show for us! Caryn Franklin has worked in fashion for 24 years as a writer, presenter, producer and director. Formerly a fashion editor and later co-editor of i-D magazine for six years, she began working in TV in 1984 in Channel 4's Swank, however she is best known for presenting the BBC's Clothes Show for 12 years and BBC's Style Challenge for three years. During those years she also presented BBC's Tracks and Really Useful Show. She has regularly appeared on GMTV, LK Today and This Morning as well as hosting her own programmes including Well Woman and Agony for Granada and The Frock And Roll Years for Carlton.
Caryn has produced four documentaries: Vivienne Westwood, Philip Treacy, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and Matthew Williamson with the makers of BAFTA for ITV as well as one on Agnes B for October Films. Having interviewed everyone from Georgio Armani to Yves Saint Laurent, and because she has strong opinions about women and image, Caryn is regularly asked to 'guest' as a recognised authority on various shows. She's also lent her expert opinion to a variety of magazines including i-D, Time Out, Marie Claire, Sunday Times and Woman's Own. She has written several books including Fashion UK, The Breast Health Handbook (a bestseller) Franklin On Fashion and Woman In The Mirror (her first novel).
Caryn lectures at some of London's top fashion and art colleges and has lent her support to several charities. For ten years, she co-chaired the award winning Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign with Amanda Wakeley, raising millions of pounds and has been instrumental in the Oxfam Clothes Code Campaign. She is also patron of Eating Disorders Association.
