Ten Minutes with Kelly Holmes
Olympic champion Kelly Holmes, may have hung up her competitive training shoes, but she's still got a lot she wants to achieve. We caught up with her to discuss health and fitness, her future plans and the 2012 London Olympics.
Medal-winner Kelly is currently taking a break from training, but it won't be long before the retired athlete hears the call of the gym again.
"When I do go back to it I'll do circuit training in the gym as it's a range of everything; strength, endurance and cardiovascular. I also like doing rowing and going on the step and bike and I do weights, mainly machine weights. I really want to get into classes too - I think Body Pump and Body Combat classes are excellent."
Going to the gym with a buddy can be the key to getting fit and keeping your motivation going, says Kelly. "It's so much more fun. You know you're working out but it's not a trauma to do it because you are having a laugh at the same time. I've been doing an individual sport for so long I want to go into a sociable class environment and have a laugh."
And her fitness tips? "Set yourself a goal, a target, and know what you want to achieve from your training. Have a reason to be working out as it makes it more real. Always warm up properly and cool down or next day you will really feel it. Drink lots of water - and above all believe you can do it. Half the battle is having self-belief."

Now she's doing less training Kelly admits she's having to watch what she eats.
"I will definitely be indulging over Christmas and the New Year, but I usually eat a bit of everything and what I want in moderation," says Kelly, who will spend Christmas this year at home with her mum in Kent.
