Fashion Rut
When it comes to clothes, hair and make-up, do you know what looks good on you? Have you had the same style for years or do you feel as you are getting older? You want to adjust your appearance accordingly, but haven't got a clue where to start? Debbie is on hand to offer a helping hand.
Hi Debbie,
My close friend of 25 years and myself will both be 50 in the next few months- we are stuck in a rut! Our children have now grown up and are getting on with their own lives and we have now realised that we are stuck in a 'time warp'- wearing the same clothes, the same hairstyles, the same make-up etc. We need help. We need new looks but wander around the shops not knowing where to begin. We go for new hairstyles and come out looking just the same! We need help! Any advice?
Thanks.

Hi there,
If you're looking for a head-to-toe transformation, you need some serious advice. As Trinny and Susannah have ably demonstrated over the years, the miracle makeover requires a lot of work and experience, and is best achieved with the help of an expert who can look at you afresh and focus on what is really going to suit you.
So my advice would be to take yourselves to the nearest good department store and ask to spend some time with a personal shopper. There are a lot of misconceptions about personal shoppers, the main one being that they are only there for the rich and famous - the 'A' listers or royals - who don't have the time or inclination to flog round the shops looking for the ideal outfit. We imagine that it's a costly indulgence, something that 'people like us' can't afford.
In fact, you'll find personal shopping departments in most of the major stores, and they are completely free. Just book yourself in and let them take the strain. The shopper will start by talking to you about your lifestyle and the kinds of clothes you like. They'll have a good look at your figure to work out the good and bad bits and then, whilst you sit and drink a coffee or look at a magazine, they'll zip round the store grabbing outfits that will work together, mix and match and, perhaps best of all, find things that will really suit you.
