I was going to get a mirrored dressing table but I reckon it will date really quickly. Do you have any ideas of where I can find an unusual dressing table that is not too pricey?

Hi there,

One of the most beautifully timeless designs around is the mirrored console. Mirrored furniture is reminiscent of the glamorous and gauche Jazz age and its Art Deco styling will never date and I'm sure will transcend passing fads.

If you really want something unique, trawl your local junk shops for something with a baroque-style faded grandeur - either metal or wood - and then customise it yourself. Spray it with either silver or gold paint, and then add touches of silver or gold leaf in areas for a little extra glitz and shine.

Or if you're on a really tight budget, invest in a deep shelf and attach to a wallpapered feature wall in your bedroom to act as a simple dressing table. Hang a mirror on the wall above and place a stool below to make it a practical dressing area.
