Top Ten Tips: Bonfire Night
It's the brightest, brashest night of the year, so make sure you celebrate in style. Whether you're having a bonfire bash at home or heading for your local display, make its your most sparkling 5th of November yet with the help of our flaming good tips!
1. Wheel out the barbie
Get that barbie back out and start sizzling! Steaks, ribs, corn on the cob and of course bangers will warm your stomach on the coldest of nights. Vats of steaming chilli, casserole and hotpot straight from the oven will also keep the crowds happy. Serve up the first mulled wine of the year and special themed cocktails, complete with sparklers - Harvey Wall-Banger anyone?
2. Visit a local display
If it's big and bold you're after, then forget a few feeble rockets at home and head to your local display for hours of entertainment. Check out local websites for venues and start times.
3. Have your own bonfire
In more ways than one. That backyard bonfire is a great way of getting rid of the rubbish you've had lying around all year, as well as being the focal point of your bonfire bash.
4. Visit Guy Fawkes' home town
2005 is the 400th anniversary of Guy Fawkes' thwarted Gunpowder Plot and the city of York is remembering its most notorious son in style. Plays, concerts and exhibitions are running from now until the grand finale on November 5th. See the Guy Fawkes website for details.
5. Make your own Guy Fawkes
With your very own guy. After the fun of the fireworks, head back indoors (you don't want to be getting frostbite now...) and create your own. You'll be oohing and aahing in no time...
