Five Trendy New Ways to Exercise

Pole dancing
Any woman who's ever seen the White Stripes video featuring just Kate Moss and a pole will want to have a go at pole dancing. Apparently, it's a lot more strenuous than it looks and you can expect to burn about 250 calories in one session - more than at the gym. You'll also increase muscle tone in your arms, thighs and bum - and will be able to give your fella the show of his life!
Great for: Building confidence in yourself and your ability to be a sexy, attractive, pole dancing babe.
Try it: Polestars holds pole-dancing classes in clubs around the country.

Baby boot camp
A group cardio class designed to whip the bodies of post-pregnancy mums into shape, Baby Boot Camp is another American phenomenon that's soon to hit our shores. Californian yummy mummys love it as there's no need to book a babysitter for the class and you even get to use your buggy as resistance when you work out!
Great for: New mums keen to get their pre-baby figures back.
Try it: There are, as yet, no Baby Boot Camp classes in the UK but UK-based Buggyfit runs similar non gym-based post-natal exercise classes all over the UK.

Trapeze
Since Sex & The City's Carrie sailed across the Manhattan skyline on a trapeze, the US has been clamouring to try trapeze classes and other circus arts and we're following hot on its heels. Beginners and intermediates usually work on a static trapeze where the bar remains as still as possible while you perform tricks on, under, above and around it. Once you've built up the strength and skills, you can move onto flying trapeze. Just like the circus!
Great for: Anyone who's ever harboured the dream of running away to join the circus.
Try it: The Circus Space in London, Circomedia in Bristol and the Brighton Dome all offer courses in trapeze skills.
