9. Lower your caffeine intake
Although evidence is not completely clear cut, some researchers feel that too much caffeine can cause risk of a low birth weight baby or even miscarriage. The current information says that four cups of coffee per day (equivalent to six cups of tea or eight cans of cola) won't hurt your baby but if you want to play it safe, just stick with decaf drinks, herbal teas or fruit juices instead.
10. Organise good antenatal care early
Good antenatal care is all about monitoring the health of you and your baby during the pregnancy, so it’s vital that you get this organised early and build up a good relationship with your carer. Even if you are not given a choice of carer, try to develop a rapport with one particular midwife or obstetrician you meet during the course of your antenatal care.
