Put Your Money Where Your House Is III
Put Your Money Where Your House Is: Series III
The show that helps you to maximise the value of your house is back! Lovely property developer Melissa Porter makes a welcome return to our screens, meeting up with those frustrated souls who feel that certain aspects of their home are rather letting them down when it comes to putting the "For Sale" board up!
You should be familiar with the winning format by now. Following a valuation by a local estate agent, Melissa meets the homeowners in need and identifies the problem areas, as she explained when UKTV Style recently caught up with her...
"Generally, you find one room within a beautiful house which has been left by the wayside and needs some TLC. The people who own the house have usually run out of ideas of what to do with the room. We provide help with spending the least amount of money on the best possible renovation and getting the best possible return."
So, with trusty builder Luis in tow, the pair devise a solution and then get to work. Once improvements have been made, it's time for the estate agent to reassess the property and to see just how much it has gone up in value.
It just goes to show how popular Put Your Money Where Your House Is has become. This is the third series and as the likeable presenter revealed to us, the key might lie in the fun everyone has making it. "Once again, it was all the same crew making the show. We all know each other inside out and we had such a laugh making the show."
In fact, such laughs can sometimes get the fun-loving presenter into a little bit of trouble, as seen during one particular shoot. "We were doing a sequence on this house in Epsom and what was supposed to happen was that Luis pushed me back and forward against this particular wall so I could look up at the loft conversion we were working on. Unfortunately, he pushed me so hard, he actually pushed me right over the wall and I completely fell into a bush in the garden. The woman whose house it was came out and was a bit cross with the dent I'd left in her bush." Perhaps she could have passed it off as celebrity topiary.
Packed full of indispensable advice, Put Your Money Where Your House Is remains essential viewing for anyone frightened of tripping up the property ladder. You'll be amazed how a few improvements - from knocking down the odd wall to adding a simple skylight - can soon add a few grand to your asking price!
The biggest increase in this series? "I think it was the result of a kitchen diner knock through we did," Melissa revealed. "Around £18k was spent and the value went up something like £40k. Ker-ching! Not bad, eh?!" Not bad at all.
