Don't Worry, Be Happy

Life can be a rollercoaster ride of emotions but there's nothing like a bit of clean healthy living to cheer a girl up.

Hello,

I'm very new to the website and not sure how to find my way around just yet, but hello to everyone! I'm looking for help in losing weight and am feeling a little low at the moment.

Thanks.

Hi there,

We all know how you feel, you are voicing the feelings of so many people. So let's see if we can cheer you up a little.

Losing weight is really so simple, but for some reason, many of us find it a perennial nightmare. We know that we have to cut out sweets, some starches (like pastry, cakes, huge dollops of mashed potato) and instead eat fruit, vegetables, protein and small portions of pasta and rice.

We should limit our alcohol intake to one small glass of wine a day (as opposed to a whole Bridget Jones bottle!). We know we should take more exercise, run up stairs, do sit-ups, skip in the garden, run round the block, swim, walk briskly to the shops. Anything in fact, is better than sitting on our increasingly plump bottoms watching soaps and eating chocolate. But that is what we often choose to do. Odd isn't it? So we get fatter, feel miserable, eat more chocolate, keep sitting down and the whole cycle just carries on ad infinitum.

I often think that life would have been simpler a hundred years ago, when we would have had to spend hours in the garden tending vegetables, or scrubbing our stairs and walking miles to the market each day. Our time would have been filled productively, we would almost certainly not have been overweight, and I suspect we would have been happier too.

So, if you think that losing weight will make you happier, then get on a diet and stick with it for a couple of months. The low GI diet is very good. It's easy to follow and you never feel hungry (I know because I've done it). For details then log onto the GI Diet website.
