Spoilt for Choice
There's a fantastic range of lingerie at the moment so there's no excuse for not finding something that tickles your fancy.
The La Senza website encourages you not only to search for the type and size of bra you are after, but also the occasion. Have a look at their 'Convertible 5 Way Bra' - many looks with one item - for £19. Exclusive to their range is the 'Invisible Bra Bra' for £29. This bra is completely clear, has moulded cups and is designed to 'disappear' under clothing while still giving you shape. Try it as an alternative to the popular seamless t-shirt bras that are widely available. As with most websites, their bra ranges come with matching briefs.
Figleaves is a fabulous website which groups a whole selection of lingerie retailers under one roof. You can browse ranges from La Perla, Rigby and Peller, Playtex, Ultimo and Wonderbra, to name but a few. If you want to 'celeb up' your booty, then click on the LoveKylie or Elle Macpherson Intimates options. Figleaves promises free delivery for purchases over £25 and free UK returns.
Sexy and Sporty
Sue Loder of Triumph International says the emphasis is moving away from a dramatic cleavage to just enough to be sexy. This autumn, she predicts a run on transparent fabric and plenty of berry shades. Fashion aside, Sue stresses that it all comes down to the fit of the garment. If you find the right size, comfort will follow.
Triumph was one of the first companies to recognise the importance of the sports bra. Their cups are more shallow, bringing the bust closer to the chest wall to ensure less 'jiggling about'. Look at their website for a sports range that covers almost every kind of activity. It also has a selection of their latest designs and lists stockists and professional fitting consultants nationwide. Triumph offers underbust sizes from 30-50 and cup sizes from AA-J. Briefs are generally available in sizes 10-16 with selected styles in size 18. If they don't have what you are looking for, try the Valisere collection for added elegance and colour. And if a bigger cup size is your major concern, surf the Bravissimo website - a separate company that specialises in D-JJ cup lingerie. They also have a range of swimsuits and strappy tops.
Below the Belt
G-strings, eh? If they happen to be a part of your staple underwear diet, try the Sloggi 'stringtime' range. With logo detail and lace waistbands, they are made to be seen in public. Good news for fuller panty fans is that Sloggi hipster briefs are tipped to become the next big thing - slim fitting with no visible edging. It seems we may all soon be sporting fuller panties which are low-waisted with deeper cut legs.
And if you really want to be ahead in the panty fashion stakes look out for the Sloggi 'stripster' - string and hipster in one! Yes that's right - two pairs of very fine knickers in contrasting colours. You heard it here first! Bigger bottomed girls don't be deterred - there is a huge (!) range of sizes and shapes available, some with tummy control.
Keeping Abreast of Fashion
No brief outline on underwear would be complete without consulting Marks and Spencer. Bra sizes range from 32A-40G and the balcony shape remains one of their biggest sellers. The fuller panty is also making a comeback. With more choices becoming available, this season's trendy underwear drawer is likely to include a couple of boy shorts and the perennial french knickers.
Undercover Romance
So banish dreary 'over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders' and purely functional underwear from your wardrobe - no matter what your size. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - if there's someone special you're 'un-dressing' for, don't be afraid to ask them what they like. And boys, if you're planning a little lingerie surprise, do your research. Check the labels in her wardrobe. And it doesn't matter what it looks like - the most important rule is that it must fit!
