Change Your Room!
You've seen the Changing Rooms programmes and you're itching to get started on a radical transformation. But before you rip out your fireplace and start sawing the MDF here's some ideas and advice on achieving a successful (and stress-free!) makeover.
Your first step is to figure out the direction your room will take. No designer would attempt to create a room without a clear idea of where it's headed and our Moodboard Designer is the perfect tool for gathering samples, swatches, materials and textures to capture the essence of the room. Whether your inspiration comes from nature's elements or hi-tech gadgetry, this is your first port of call. Get the details in Be Your Own Designer!
Before you hit the shops, make sure you know what quantities you need. Work it out! with our handy decorator's calculator and make sure you're buying the right amount of fabric, paint and wallpaper for your house (and not a Wendy house).
These handy articles give you helpful advice on the basics of all Changing Rooms makeovers: Preparing to Decorate, Painting Interior Walls and Ceilings, Wallpapering and Sanding a Floor.
You'll probably want to give your windows the Changing Rooms treatment. As Carol Smillie won't be on hand to whip up a pair of tab-tops and tiebacks, check out our step-by-step guide to Making Roman Blinds.
