Painting White Appliances
Fashionable fridges will be sporting all sorts of colours this season, thanks to International's Fridge Paint. Donna Hardie has the low-down on how to make the transformation...
Dear Donna,
I would like to paint my fridge a different colour. Is this possible and what paint should I use?
Thank you for all your good ideas.
Wendy.

Dear Wendy,
Old metal fridges can be transformed in just a couple of hours using Fridge Paint from International Paints. Suitable for fridges, freezers, washing machines and dishwashers, it allows you to transform your old white goods appliances without the cost of a pricey replacement. It is available in two finishes: White comes in 250ml tins for £6.98, and Chrome is available in an easy-to-use 300ml aerosol spray for £6.98. The finish is tough and hardwearing, providing a high gloss mirror finish in White, while the Chrome dries to a metallic lustre finish.
To paint your fridge, first prepare the surface using Wipe-On Multi Surface Primer a versatile product that enables you to prepare a variety of household surfaces prior to painting. Simply wipe over the fridge with a dry cloth. Leave for five minutes and then wipe clean with a second dry cloth. Available in one-litre tins for £12.99.
The surface is now ready for Fridge Paint. Just shake the can for two to three minutes and then spray on several thin coats at 20-minute intervals to achieve a glossy finish. Quick and easy to use, Fridge Paint is touch-dry in two hours and overcoatable in just six. If you have a plastic fridge, call the International Paints helpline on (01480) 484284. Plastic can have different degrees of flexibility, so paint often cracks on this particular surface. International Paints can help to recommend a suitable primer and paint to achieve a perfect finish.
Happy painting!
