Shower Doors for Corner Baths
Corner baths are great for making the most of a small bathroom, but finding a shower door can be a tricky business. Enter Debbie Rix, our very own shopping expert, with solutions for every design dilemma.
Dear Debbie
I am in the process of redoing my bathroom. I am putting a corner bath in but I am having trouble with finding a suitable shower door for a corner bath or if not a door a curtain rail. If I am to use a curtain rail I would like it so that it is of two layers, clear plastic on the inside and a pretty organza type material on the outside. Can you help please?

Dear Lorraine,
Although you can get shower doors for corner showers or straight baths, manufacturers don't seem to cater for corner baths. It is possible though, to buy a corner bath with an integral shower door, from online bathroom specialist victoriaplumb.com. The bath pictured here measures 1000mm x 1500mm and has a 6mm glass screen that folds inwards enabling you to take a shower. The price is £799 inc. VAT and nationwide delivery. Telephone (0870) 120 8338.
If you already have a bath installed, then a curtain rail is the answer. You'll need to choose a product that is designed for the purpose. Online bathroom furniture specialists Victorian Plumbing make curtain rails to order. They sell a rail called a quarter circle that is suitable for a corner bath and comes in one of three finishes: brass (£285) chrome or nickel plate (£340). The rails come to you ready to assemble and fix to the wall and ceiling. They also sell shower curtains. Simple white polyester ones in a range of sizes: 180cm, 200cm or 220cm long for £15.
John Lewis stock two different kinds of telescopic shower rail. Their own make, Jonelle, in chrome (£28) fits a space 125cm up to 220cm and the longer, Croydex (£10.25, white only) fits spaces 178cm up to 260cm. These rails come with rings that slot through a shower curtain (or two shower curtains if you want a pretty one on the outside and a waterproof one on the inside). There's a huge range of shower curtains, not organza as such, but a large variety of plain or self patterned white ones. Prices start at £25. Call John Lewis Head office on (0207) 828 1000 to find your nearest branch.
Happy splashing!
