"I bought this DVF wrap a couple of years ago and my friends are fed up of seeing me in it. I wear it with jeans, boots, flip-flops, you name it. I'm happy to shell out on classic pieces, but equally I'll scour carboot sales for a Forties beaded clutch. But I do object to the word 'vintage' – people, it's second hand!"

Forget the catwalk. Nowhere does fashion turn more heads and cause more of a stir than on the street. We've recently been accosting gorgeous people and finding out more about their look.We scouted Karen sipping latté in hip new eatery Bill's café in Brighton. "I love a bit of old-fashioned glamour. All my clothes have a retro feel and I've got tons of shift dresses, wrap dresses, twinsets and ¾ length sleeves in my wardrobe."
