A Face For Yulce

11-year-old Yulce Dailongi lives on the exotic Indonesian island of Halmahera. Her island life was unremarkable until the day she had an accident pouring kerosene into a lit oil lamp. The explosion left her with burns so severe, it looked like her face was melting.

In an effort to repair itself, Yulce's scar tissue fused her chin to her neck. The only treatment the local hospital could offer was coconut oil. Unable to turn her head, lift her arms, or even close her mouth, Yulce was bed-ridden for months.

Enter Dr. Peter Grossman from the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles. Responding to the call of an aid worker, he offers to try give Yulce plastic surgery. It’s dangerous work and there are no promises of success, but can Grossman perform the miracle of a lifetime for this tragically scarred young girl? And what will Yulce make of life in crazy LA?
