Top Gear: The GTi Years
OK, you know all about Jeremy Clarkson, the Stig and the cars reviewed, praised and trashed on the show. Here's the next generation - Top Gear GTi.
On the road
In keeping with the Top Gear tradition the programme sticks to the road: cars, cars and more cars. Join Louise Brady, Jason Bradbury and Vicky Butler Henderson while they take a close look at some seriously cool cars.
Team GTi
Jason is better known for his appearances on the Big Breakfast and The Web Review. A self-confessed gadget geek, he also writes for IT magazines. Louise is an action lass who knows a thing or two about bikes. Her credits include a Pulling Power Special, Car Crazy and Eurosport's World Superbike series. The ex-beauty therapist shares her life with a budgie called Beebster and African grey parrot named LB. As for Vicki, the posh girl, she's an old hand at presenting, with experience on Top Gear and Top Bikes. VB-H (as she's become known) is quite the car darling and has picked up a cult following.
More about VB-H
Vicki has some serious motoring credits with both Fifth Gear, Be a Grand Prix Driver, Top Gear and Top Bikes under her seatbelt. After starting out on Car Mechanics Magazine, Vicki quickly became a car mag pro helping launch Max Power and writing for Auto Express, Carweek and What Car?. She began her driving career racing a 100cc kart at the age of 12. Every car-loving man's dream, the blonde bombshell is 30, single, owns a Ducatti Monster 750 and comes complete with racing instructor's RZCMSA Race license.
What is a GTi?
The original GTi concept harks back to 1976. The Grand Tourisme Injection: Golf GTi was a landmark automobile. Concept, vision and design as well as engine power were unheard of on a small car. The Golf GTi broke ground for car manufacturers globally. Culturally the GTi is the equivalent of go-faster stripes. Originally the GTi engine was an added feature with a faster engine. However, recently the term has been added on to any 'faster' model of smaller and more affordable cars.
