Dave, the home of witty banter, has re-ordered its first branded content partnership, Red Bull X-Fighters 2008, for a second year. This new series will follow the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2009 around the globe, culminating in London with a high-octane final which will be broadcast as-live on Dave – a first for the channel.
Ordered by Dave’s Channel Head, Steve North, this deal was put together by UKTV’s Head of Commercial Partnerships, Sally Quick. Premiering weekly from 28th July 2009 exclusively on Dave, Red Bull X-Fighters 2009 will again be produced by UMTV. James Milnes will series produce the five 4 x 60’ and 1 x 120’ shows, with UKTV’s Tess Cuming, Joff Powell and UMTV’s Chris Gillett as executive producers.
UKTV’s Sally Quick, says, “We are delighted to be working with Red Bull for a second year on this fantastically entertaining series. They really understand what makes great content and share massive brand synergy with Dave, so it’s no surprise that so many 16-34 year old men tuned in to watch last year.”
Dave’s Steve North, comments, “This show has everything you could want from a primetime entertainment format: breathtaking stunts, high-pressure competition, glamorous locations, and above all, witty banter. By re-ordering this series for a second year, it cements Dave as a home of adrenalin fuelled motorsports such as FMX and the World Rally Championships.”
Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour is a high-energy spectacle in which the world’s best Freestyle Motocross (FMX) riders combine power, skill, showmanship and bravery to perform jaw-dropping tricks, reaching heights of up to 40 feet.
In 2009, the Tour visits Mexico City (Mexico), Calgary (Canada), Fort Worth (Texas, USA) and Madrid (Spain) before concluding in London – the first time the competition has come to the UK in its eight year history. A crowd of 17,000 fans are expected to descend on Battersea Power Station, the breathtaking venue for the Grand Finale, to watch 12 of the world’s best riders perform gravity-defying tricks to battle it out for the world title.
Dave’s exclusive UK coverage of this exhilarating global competition will comprise of four weekly highlights shows from each of the overseas events, culminating in a live two hour finale from London’s Battersea Power Station. Featuring the world’s greatest FMX riders performing the most hair-raising stunts possible in just two minutes, all five shows will again be hosted by maverick sports presenter Ed Leigh (Ski Sunday, High Altitude) and retired professional mountain biker, Rob Warner, to create the perfect blend of humour, entertainment and expertise.
Red Bull X-Fighters 2008 was Dave’s first brand content series and performed strongly when it premiered on the channel last summer, particularly amongst Dave’s and Red Bull’s target audience of young men. In total, the 6 x 60’ series reached 2.8million viewers, indexing 132% with 16-34 year old men.
