Carol - Executive Assistant

Get on the tube to Great Portland Street and spend half the train journey reading Metro and the other half looking at my Spanish notes ahead of my lesson at lunch.

When I arrive I check my boss’s calendar and action e mails prior to our morning catch-up, which includes going through his diary, giving him any papers he might need, as well as discussing any follow up necessary from the previous day’s meetings.

Prepare the agenda for the Tuesday morning meeting - or TMM as we like to call it - where the whole company meet in our comfy area for a weekly update on what’s happening across the company, which can include anything from channel launches to the latest FC Dave results (our 5-a-side team), to the regular channel promos and informal introduction of new starters.

Attend a fortnightly UKTV PA meeting with the other company-wide PAs. Our remit is to discuss and action anything that makes a difference to the company and staff, in this instance money saving ideas. We also run the Building Committee and invite Office Services to attend on a regular basis to discuss any building issues. Each meeting is minute-ed and has a rotating chair so that everyone feels involved.

Go to Sainsbury’s to pick up lunch ahead of my Spanish lesson – muy bien!

Afterwards I attend the weekly Executive team meeting and take minutes throughout, before returning to my desk and replying to any unanswered messages and e-mails.

Supply the Social Committee with the names of the six people in the UKTV team who will take part in the building’s music quiz in May.

Finish the day on the way home by answering any e mails that might have come in after I have left.
