About UKTV
Helpful Tools
UKTV is a major industry player and one of the most important and successful multi-channel providers in the UK. Formed in 1997, it is an independent commercial joint venture, between Virgin Media and BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC.
Attracting 36.5 million viewers each month, the network is midway through an overhawl of its ten distinctive and innovative TV channels to create a portfolio of multi-platform brands. It offers a broad range of quality programming across its entertainment, lifestyle and factual offerings - Watch, G.O.L.D., Dave, Alibi, Eden, Blighty, Yesterday, Home, Really and Good Food Channel (to become Good Food). UKTV will complete what is believed to be the most ambitious network rebrand in British broadcasting history with the launch of Good Food on Monday 22nd June 2009.
UKTV currently operates 18 broadcast streams when multiplexes (+1s) and broadband are taken into account, and complementary websites for every channel brand. The success of UKTV is based on its programming including award-winning shows from the BBC and an increasing number of original commissions and acquisitions.
The network’s unique relationship with the BBC gives it a ‘first look’ at its programmes for secondary broadcast in the UK. The network is dedicated to providing a quality channel platform environment for the best content producers, including some of the UK’s top independent programme makers.
