This cookery course brings you 2.5 hours of private tuition for two people to learn the secrets of making fabulous sushi!
The Experience
On arrival you will receive a welcome briefing and refreshments before being shown basic ingredients and cooking techniques.
You will make sushi rice, learn to make cut fish (sashimi), make accompanying dips and the following types of sushi:
Edomae-zushi or Nigiri-zushi ~ pieces of raw fish over vinegared rice balls.
Temaki or hand rolls ~ hand-rolled cones made from nori, sushi rice and ingredients.
Inverted Sushi ~ with rice outside, rolling using clingfilm and the mat and dousing with sesame seeds.
Tamago~ Beef steak marinated in teriyaki sauce, cooked, cooled, thinly sliced, then spread with sushi rice and rolled in thin omelette.
Tazuna-sushi ~ This is again an inverted sushi, prawns, omelette, cucumber etc are pressed into the outside.
The great thing is that with the shared knowledge you can help each other make your next dinner party the most talked about for years!
Vital Information
This course runs on selected dates all year round subject to availability.
There is no upper age limit. Serious young cooks (from 10 years upwards) will be accepted if accompanied by one parent. This course is suitable for a novice through to a veteran cook.
Please wear casual clothing, and bring your own apron. You will spend most of the time cooking and therefore will be on your feet so please wear comfortable shoes!
Refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks) will be provided.
Please advise any food allergies or dietary requirements at the time of booking your course.
