Materials: Turf, topsoil, potting soil, plant pots, plants (alpines, heather, thyme etc) flat pack shed, sledge hammer, wheel barrow and lots of free labour from our friends!
Comments: The garden is definitely an area you can do yourself. It's a lot of hard physical work if you decide to returf the entire thing (especially if you have to remove a concrete path like we did!) but if you have the muscle, do it yourself. You'll pay way over the odds to get someone else to do it. Our biggest expense was removal of the 6-ft high rubbish heap we created!
