Description
Gorstage Green Farm has remained in Davis hands for 60 years but its age has not stopped it from being at the top of its field when considering flair and innovation. Charlie’s butter, developed by young farmer Charlie Davis, is a relatively new addition to the services and goods offered here but its creamy, slightly salted taste is said to ‘last forever’.

We visited last month and it was a lovely day. We took away some of the butter. I have always enjoyed butter and used it in cooking and meals, mainly because "a little of what you like is good for you!". I was a Lurpack and Anchour fan, but I can say now -i had never tasted butter! Having 'real' butter is amazing! The differece is like saying you like fish because you eat tinned sardines, and then one day having Rick Stein cook you a ,eal, the difference between fruit pastels and FRUIT! I think i'm a convert now for eating and cooking. I wish them all well at Charlie's.

This butter is a real hit. Especially on hot crumpets on top of freshly steamed asparagus or in cakes. Delicious!!

This butter is fantastic! I was a Flora person until I tasted this and now I am a convert to real Cheshire butter.

Charlie Davis is an enterprising young farmer based in the depths of the beautiful Cheshire countryside. Using the rich cream from his herd of ninety cows he makes wonderfully creamy butter with a memorable flavour. All he adds to the cream is Cheshire salt, and then churns it by hand to produce his delicious butter in small quantities. The butter is packed into 250g wooden tubs, then labelled with his distinctive carton style cow (his own design). ‘Charlie’s Butter’ is available in local farm shops in the area. He also offers ;Farmer-4-a Day where people can experience what it’s really like to be a farmer – milking the cows, feeding the calves, etc. This is very popular, particularly with companies as a corporate event and Charlie is happy to tailor the day or half a day to particular requirements
