Description
This farm shop rear and hand-make a lot of their own produce to provide their customers with good local food, and in a bid to save their farm. One of the attractions of the farm shop is that it situated in a listed building, which used to be a museum; elements from its origins, such as an old cheese vat, are even used to display the vegetables. They use their own Lincoln Red bulls and Red Poll bulls for beef and milking, and stock their own middle white pork. The butchers also sell their hand-made award-winning sausages and meat pies; and in their bakery they make cakes and puddings. At the moment they churn their own rare breed butter, and will soon have the resources to provide pasteurised milk, cream and cheeses too.

Always keen for customers to try new products and encouraged to provide honest views so that they can supply what customers want to buy and enjoy - how refreshing and heroic is that?

Consistent high quality meat, baking, veg. and humour! Alan, Jane and family's positive approach to producing good food is evident in their seasonal wares. Friendly customer care makes the weekly shop a pleasure not a chore. The more I can shop here the better for my family.

The pies are so good my parents drive all the way from Colchester in Essex and then buy all the stock- so now you know who ate all the pies!!

I have been visiting this farmshop for 4 years and it is without doubt the most friendly and worthwhile venue to purchase good fresh food from. The homemade pies and sausage rolls are super - the pastry is really rich - the cakes are excellent and the amount of fresh food available is first class. The range of products they sell from other local sources are also very good and meet their own exacting standards. They will cut any meat to your own requirements however small - even mince - and will provide advice as to which cuts of meat are suitable for cooking in a particular way.

Alan is the cheeriest hardest working farmer we know! Always great produce - especially the sirloin steak. Jane's cakes and pies are especially yummy!

A real farm, real people producing real food by dint of their own labour. You can't get better, anywhere. And produce they can't grow (coffee, tea, cocoa etc.)they sell for disadvantaged farmers accross the world by stocking Fair Trade goods, a means of purchasing as directly with farmers as possible, and helping them to work and trade their way out of poverty. I love this shop, and the friendly welcome I get every time I go there. Nothing is ever too much trouble. It's a real pleasure to shop there and quality of produce is second to none.
