Perhaps the problem with Vanilla Black is that in local veggie circles it's reputation goes before it - it had a lot to live up to. Expectations aside the food at our visit was very average at best. The Gazpacho was akin to ketchup and delicate olive oil sorbet was served IN the soup totally swamping its flavour. Main courses were 'OK'but at the prices charged expectations were higher. Come on guys - not all vegies like bland food!!

Complete veggie superheroes! A fine dining restaurant with bistro prices and it's 100% veggie. It's not your standard veggie fare either - the food is distinctive and often locally sourced. The flavours they get out of vegetables are simply fabulous. Plenty of my meatie friends have also eaten here and loved it. It's a reasonably small and informal space (which makes it all the better for me)in a 1930s style and the staff are great - nothing's too much bother. review this place now
