I stumbled across this wonderful establishment on a day trip and was overwhelmed by the friendly welcome from the delightful couple that run the place. As someone who greatly appreciates good quality, REAL food, I was not disappointed. The range of fine, locally produced and grown organic products was refreshing. I would personally highly recommend their Galloway ice cream - a divine treat! Anyone who puts this amount of effort and dedication in ensuring we have access to nutritious local organic foods should be congratulated and supported. Tell your friends!

Organic is about lifestyle, choice and taste of your food. Ancrum Organics not only ensure that they stock a wide, varied range of foods they also are the biggest Gluton-free supplier in the Scottish Borders of food and the biggest Ecover supplier in the region offering refils to save on waste. They herald the whole purpose of living in the country providing the services of a village store but with everyday foods and everyday items to compete in a world where the supermarkets unfortunately tell us what and how to eat. They support local initiatives and suppliers (where possible) and deserve recognition for the opportunity brought to this area to live life organically providing choice with a friendly and personal service.

Ancrum Organic is simply a lifesaver for the fortunate locals who can now benefit from without doubt the best organic food facility outside of Edinburgh. Not only is the shop providing the locals with access to better, healthier fruit and veg but it is providing a focal point for the village and reinventing the feeling of community. Recognition on this scale is testament to hard work of the entire family behind Ancrum and they fully deserve any plaudits they receive. Best of luck.

My parents have opened a vegetarian organic grocer store in their local village having converted their old kitchen and outhouse at the back of their house. They sell fresh fruit and veg sourced from Damhead organics in Edinburgh, fresh bread from Trusty Crust based in Lothian and basically every-day living comodities and fresh food including suma etc. This is benefiting an ongoing change of lifestyle to locals who are at least 4miles away from the nearest supermarket and opening up a market of accessible organic products with little difference of price compared to your standard supermarket stock. They opened the shop in May having left their day-to-day jobs as an insurance man and an office administrator and converted the shop themselves. They should be recongised for the value add they have brought to locals at reasonable prices where it is difficult to source otherwise than travelling 1.5hours to Edinburgh. review this place now
