Description
Sandy Smart runs A Taste of Speyside with wife Carol, and he describes their meals as “food like a granny would cook”. The emphasis is on the local and the traditional, so meat is sourced from local butcher Gordon Mackintosh and their signature dish is the Taste of Speyside Platter – which includes salmon, venison, pickled vegetables, oat cakes and cheese.

As I've put in their guestbook last December: "This place is so GOOD, I've decided to move here!"...I have done so. The steak and lamb shank and salmon is the very very best I have EVER had, having been a proffesional European tour guide for many years - and sampled great cuisine throughout Europe.. words now fail me. I used to run tours with Henry Lincoln of 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' fame.. we now know the Holy Grail of really superb cuisine (sshh, keep it a secret - not!). It's here, in Dufftown, along with great whiskies. Thanks to Sandy, Carol & ALL the kitchen folk. Lang may they continue with this quality. They do it totally right, time after time after time. Succulent, delicious and - gosh, it really is Divine. I speak from great experience of great food too. Tickle your stomach and get a free heart massage at the same time. C'est merveilleux mes amis! Ca suffit.

What an amazing experience!! The food is of the highest quality & the service warm and friendly. We wish we lived closer so we could visit 'A Taste of Speyside' more often. As for the home baked bread...... Outstanding!!! If you're passing near Dufftown make it your priority to visit. You wont be dissapointed.
