I was recently in Craster and they are the very best kippers in the world. Alan Robson still runs the business at 80--- he is a marvel and still works so hard, delivering etc. Mr Robson proudly showed my family around the kippering sheds, they saw the herring and the salmon going in to be smoked in the old fashioned way. Undyed too !!!! Alan Robson has my vote- he is a working marvel

I have never been to the restaurant, but have always meant to as it all looks very good. The kippers though are first class. Yes, they are the famous "craster kippers" that you see everywhere. i love the smell in the air as they are smoking. I would strongly recommend a visit to this beautiful, once fishing village and visit the smokery.

Good lord, the kippers! Craster kippers are fabulous and Robson's family smokery has a good, gritty atmosphere too. The restaurant is quirky (no cards, only cash and cheque when I was last there)and anything smoked is bound to be delicious. review this place now
