Chris,
I have had the same problem for a few weeks now and, from looking at various web forums, it appears that this is a big problem for many people.

A suggestion has been made that UKTV has a transponder problem as the problem is not present on the +1 hour channels which use a different transponder.

Either UKTV have a fault or else they have too many channels on the 1 transponder.

Please UKTV, if you read these postings, can you check the transponder for faults or else get a new transponder and split the channels between the 2? It is really annoying to have the sound and picture break up every few minutes, 24 hours a day, EVERYDAY!!!

Also, it appears that many of us are emailing info@uktv.co.uk and getting our emails returned. Can you correct this also? It really appears that you do not want to have people contact you, in which case, please remove the email address.

Thank you, and thank you Chris for mentioning this problem which appears quite widespread.

Jonathan

Hi guys,
Regarding the output quality from UKTV affecting us all and the returned emails issue, I have sent an email to UKTV.

I felt that was appropriate since returned emails are a "communications" issue!

IF UKTV don't read this message page then lots of email may make them sit up and take notice of the lowly viewer.

Happy emailing!
Jon

Well, I am glad to see that UKTV DO read these message boards as they edited my last posting to remove the email address of the lady at UKTV who I contacted regarding the pic/sound issue.

Anyway, pleased to say she replied to me and promised to have the matter investigated.

Thanks UKTV

I was interested to see on Mondays show that Morrisons was absent in the line-up for supermarket green initiatives.
Could GLF and viewers write and ask Morrisons why they are the only supermarket NOT to have any recycling information on the packaging of their own brand lines. I have yet to find even 1 recycling symbol on a Morrisons own brand product. WHY?
It would appear that they are way behind other supermarkets.
Another bone of contention for me is that the symbols used which we all take to mean the packaging can be recycled can mean one of two things. Either the packaging can be recycled OR the packaging has been made from recycled materials. In the case of the latter, these may or may not be recycled again.
Come on manufacturers and supermarkets - follow the lead set by Waitrose who give great detail about the recycling on their packaging.

We need clear information, used by ALL food suppliers which should end confusion and encourage us all to recycle more.

On a different note, my partner has IBS and cannot tolerate diary products, spicy foods and products with oil.
Jenni and viewers, please can you help. We watch the show nearly every day and lots of recipes seem to have chilli or spices, dairy products, or have oil used either in the recipe or for cooking. All of these cause trouble and result in boring meals here so any interesting recipes avoiding these things would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jonathan (and Jay)

Hi,
Since coffee gives me migraine I did not pay that much attention to the machine but I remember thinking it was a good piece of equipment. Anyway, I have found something which may be it or comes very close. It is the Gaggia Classic with MDF grinder and base from www.bella-italia.com for a reasonable £338. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Are you allowed to give your website on here?
I, too, would love to order some tablet but live in Barry so nowhere near you or the South East.
Thanks

Well, I have to agree with the majority here. I will miss GFL - it has formed part of my regular viewing since it started. Jeni is a natural, a great interviewer and a scream to boot.

I will give the new show a chance though I have to say that I do not like Tom Parker Bowles' food section in the Daily Mails weekend supplements - he comes across as too full of himself so I hope that will not transfer to the small screen.

A suggestion to UKTV food? Why not put the new show on at lunchtime and 10pm and continue GFL on the teatime slot? Then after a month let us vote on which we prefer. Too simple? Probably.

I will also echo a request from another member - PLEASE do not take away the GFL recipe section. I use it on a regular basis!

I hope UKTV Food will reconsider the axing of GFL but for the next 2.5 weeks I had better get the video set!

I must agree with previous writers. Why axe GFL? There is plenty of life left in the program and in Jeni you have an excellent presenter. She is a scream, full of life, chatty, pleasant and gets lots of information from her guests and co-presenters.
Somehow I cannot imagine Mrs Ramsey and Tom Parker Bowles having the same "pulling power". I will give the new show a go but I do not like Tom Parker Bowles' "self importance" style in his weekend newspaper food column so I hope that does not come across on the small screen.
I don't see why UKTV food cannot have both programs on!
Remove a few of the many repeats like Masterchef, Heavens Kitchen, Rick Stein, Two Fat Ladies etc and there are easily enough slots for GFL and the new program.
I have seen the repeats of the above so often that I only watch UKTV food now for GFL.
How about the new show at lunchtime with a repeat at 10pm and a live GFL at 6pm? Then let us viewers vote for which one to keep?
GFL is a great platform for new talent, new chefs, new products, issues of the day. A lot of the other chefs featured on UKTV only really became known to the public through GFL. Let's keep showcasing this talent on GFL.
Please think again UKTV. Just look at the number of viewers comments on your pages - you are alienating a lot of viewers who may well bite back!

I, too, have posted elsewhere my feelings on the demise of GFL and I really think UKTV will regret their decision. Here, however, I just want to say a BIG thank you to Jeni for her sparkling wit, delightful rapport with the guests and excellent questions gleaning information for us, the viewers.
I have learned a lot from GFL in 5 years in both cooking terms and shopping choices and my partner and I have watched and enjoyed almost every episode during the last 5 years. It is also the only time in the day when our canary shuts up! As soon as the theme tune starts, he settles down and watches the TV for the hour!
Thanks again Jeni and team - HURRY BACK.

Just one more thing. Can GFL confirm if the recipes on this site will remain here, move elsewhere, or be removed?
If going, please can we have some notice as I, for one, would like a bit of time to print off many of them.
Thanks.
Jonathan
