Underwear Flair
The only thing worse than ill-fitting underwear is suddenly remembering you forgot to put any on! That frumpy panty line or greying visible 't-bar' only detracts from the look you have so painstakingly put together. So we've scoured several outlets for knickers and bras that are not only practical, but have that added sparkle for him and her. If you insist on showing your G-string, at least add a little glitter for everyone's benefit!
Fashion Conscious
Plunging waist and necklines have revolutionised lingerie fashion. Gone are the days of modestly tucking your worn beige bra strap out of sight. Today's woman of fashion knows that coloured bra straps, in contrast to your clothing, demonstrate a modicum of style 'know-how'. The rule of thumb is this: if your underwear can be seen, make sure there is no doubt that your fashion faux pas is nothing less than deliberate. This means you can have a lot of fun experimenting with colour and design.
The Perfect Fit
First things first. Before advancing to 'daring wearing', remember there is one golden rule about choosing underwear that has remained constant over the years - make sure it fits!
Take care with panty lines. They've got to be just right. Too tight and you develop unsightly lumps and bumps which have a life of their own. Too loose and it looks like you've stuffed your entire shirt down your trousers. If you can't get the balance right and hate wearing a G-string, then look out for fuller knickers with an invisible finish - almost a graded edge.
A badly fitted bra has a similar effect. Underestimating your cup size and over tightening the straps will push everything in the wrong direction - not to mention the effect on your overall well-being. Ever thought those tense shoulders and that back pain could be down to the pressure exerted by an ill-fitting bra? The back strap of your bra should form a perfect circle around the body and not slide upwards.
Measure Up
Too shy to bare all to the shop assistant? Fear not. Most bra retailers provide an easy to follow 'how to find your correct size' guide on their websites. The process involves using the tables provided as a cross reference and measuring in centimetres around the rib cage, directly under the bust, to calculate the underband measurements. Similarly, measure across the fullest part of your bust to work out your cup size. Make sure you are not wearing a padded bra whilst calculating these measurements!
If you're still not sure of what you are doing then boost your confidence by researching the internet for different styles and sizes available before meeting an in-store fitting consultant.
