I am impressed to see the level of upset regarding the removal of Dallas. I watched it as a young adult in the late 70's and early 80's but missed most of the episodes due to working around the clock. Two years ago our local tv station RTE showed 1 of the series and they too removed it from showing with no notice. I was devasted then as I was working from home and work always stopped when Dallas started and nobody was allowed to speak while it was on..! Now UKTV have done the same, and it is so disappointing, I could not believe it when I tried to auto show all episodes for the coming week just to see it was not available..... absolutely disgusted and beginning to suffer withdrawal symptoms already.... Please bring JR and the gang back ASAP...! Confused

....and I agree with Joycey, an all out boycott of UKTV Gold should be called for because of the unthoughtful way Dallas fans have been treated...! Angry

Come on David R UKTV Gold..... where are ye..? Anger has subsided to bemusement, for me, at the level of disappointed Dallas fans, theres no point in allowing ourselves to be annoyed but you would surely lift the spirits of a lot of fans if you put it back on soonest.... Maybe you can explain the logic behind its removal.... or is this a deliberate attempt to start a Dallas Revolution...! Tongue Make us happy and we will sing your praises and maybe Sky will get more subscriptions, in the meantime I do not think you are doing yourselves any favours... what I thought was good value for money in paying Sky, I have second thoughts about that now. And anybody thinking of paying more for multiroom, please think again, that is probably what they would like you to do...!

Ok well I'm definitely in..! We pay our TV licences, we pay our sky subscriptions and companies make millions in revenue because we contribute sometimes more than we should, thats why they declare the profits while we become disappointed. The point has already been made that there is little on tv that gives us a fair degree of satisfaction. Dallas to me is actually one of those things and I AM NOT ASHAMED TO SAY THAT..! The plots and sub plots beat those other dry soaps hands down, and Larry Hagman has already been recognised as the king of soaps without argument. It is a quality show when you have the opportunity to follow it episode by episode and being able to catch up on missed shows at different stages of the day is what really makes tv worth it. Well done UKTV for this innovative approach but seriously, shame on you for disappointing your viewers without prior warning and quite harshly. As already said you are not doing yourselves any favours.

Ok, so you will probably be saying just a handfull of people will be disappointed and who cares, but that handfull of people are the ones that can determine at the end of the day whether you reach your profit margins or not. We think we have been stolen from at a point when we were really looking forward to the next stage in the JR game. Think about it....! If you had done this at the end of the episode where JR was shot it would have been perfect...! The craic would have been superb and your break inline with the story. Come on now, PUT IT BACK AS SUDDENLY AS YOU TOOK IT AWAY... We deserve it. Blurgh

Ok David maybe you want to stretch this out until September and hopefully we will go away until then. Today I bought the very first series box set of Dallas so I can watch it whenever I feel like it ( I actually came across it accidentally at a knock down price... but I intend to search E Bay later for the other sets...). If I was going to upgrade to Sky plus before and record the episodes now I won't bother, buying the boxsets will save me a lot of hassle but watching it on a daily basis would be even less hassle again and the preferred choice. Dont bank on this little revolution taking pace because it is clear that is probably what your bosses would like, a little publicity. I do not think there are enough Dallas fans to make enough of a fuss but by UKTV disregarding the few who are upset enough to talk people out of buying a subscription to Sky or Sky plus, maybe that would catch on.... and at the moment, that is exactly all I feel like doing because you have decreased the value of our subscription to Sky. A contract is a contract. We pay you show. You said you would show the whole series.... why is it not on right now while we are still paying our dues...? Smile

Hi Does anybody have an update about the return of Dallas in August...? The main board is not showing any new postings but there are some there... it seems.

Ok now I'm peed off again. I had a great "fix" of Dallas yesterday morning even though it upset my usually restful sleepy lie in Saturday morning, and again this morning but I missed the second last episode because of a phone call so I have no idea how JR got off with the charge of starting the revolution in Asia...! I think I can see it again at 1am in the morning but I cant be sure. Before this I wouldnt mind, it would be easy to catch up but because of the sudden change in UKTV's schedules this is now not possible.

I REALLY THINK WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED...!

UKTV, why are you not listening to the people you are trying to entertain...? It beggars belief that you have not bothered to offer an explanation but more importantly a solution to the situation...? It seems to me now there are more Dallas fans than I thought at first so maybe a thousand disgruntled fans multiplied by 10 others that they will moan to, not just about UKTV but about Sky as well, just might be enough to hit you where it hurts, your bottom line profits and poor sponsorship in the future.

Dallas fans, here is one way we can start to hit back. During the show there are opportunities to enter draws for laptops and tv's etc.... why don't we start to spread the news that this is a scam and just another way for UKTV to skim more cream off TV fans, premium texts make them a fortune... that is actually part of their problem I think, Dallas fans just watch the program, we are not interested in entering their money making tricks. The younger generation of fans will more than likely enter and that is probably the main reason for the change. School and college kids are off at the moment....

UKTV where are you and why are you not listening or responding....? Do you really not give a hoot for your viewers...?

We deserved more notice and a better alternative to the one you have taken, Saturdays and Sundays is NOT a fair compromise for your customers, all you are doing is managing to alienate those who would be happy to remain loyal if the loyalty is reciprocated...

We want our Dallas back on weekdays and not in just in September as too much will be missed by then, otherwise you will probably never hear the end of this and somebody is going to pay in the end AND IT WONT BE US...!

We want our Dallas back..!

Hi Vampibuff, just saw your posting and would like to let you know that we Dalllas fans have the same problem with UKTV that you have with Casualty. How about taking a look at the main Dallas thread at the head of the message boards and why not join in. We would like to rally support and complain in a very sincere manner at the way UKTV are treating it's viewers.

Look forward to seeing you there...!

Hey Bagface, will you join us on the Dallas Thread so we can join up and bombard UKTV with complaints. There are "Casualty" casualties too so hopefully the more support we give each other the more they might listen.

Hope to see you on the site soon...

Ok everyone, I was casually scrolling through some of the other threads and came across something interesting. "Casualty" fans and "The Bill" fans are experiencing similar stuff to the way we are being treated. This means that there is a management issue within UKTV and they seem to be making quite a lot of blunders.

What does this mean...? Even if we get this "little" problem sorted now, surely in a couple of months time something similar could happen.

Why don't we all join forces and get every disgruntled UKTV viewer together and make the management sit up and take account of what is going wrong, maybe they will appoint somebody with more competence and courage to address the situation rather than running for cover.

Come on UKTV where are you now when there are so many unhappy campers waiting for an answer...? What are you waiting for...?

If 100,000 subscribers decided to refuse payment of one months subscription to Sky as a penalty for breaching contract by not showing TV shows in a competent fashion that means 8 Million Euro in lost revenue for 1 month. How would Sky cope with taking 100,000 people to court to get the money back...?

Who is on for penalising Sky and forget about UKTV, they are utterly useless..!

Hi everyone,

Will evereybody start to send in emails complaining to UKTV to the following address. They have just emailed me informing me to look forward to new showings of David Jason shows, which I like incidentally, however I informed them that until the situation regarding Dallas is sorted, I amd simply not interested...

Will anybody really concerned do likewise please...? Bombard them with complaints about everything that has been bothering you but havent bothered to say until now....

UKTV News [news@uktv.co.uk] Angry Angry Angry

And that last posting is a very valid point. How many episodes will be missed by people who can't possibly sit down to watch it on the weekends...

Stay posted Jules. Not sure what can be achieved here yet but we shouldn't intend letting up and allowing them to get away with it, not in this day and age, viewers deserve more. The problem really is that in the past they (UKTV) have been getting away with things which allows them to use these bully tactics. I'm sure there is a consumers complaint commission somewhere and our rights are being infringed somehow, I'm just a little busy at the moment my better half is expecting any day now and I'v a small business to run from home but as soon as I get a moment I will be checking it out. As I mentioned before the hour of Dallas a day is a welcome break and gives us something to look forward to, it was the only quality break herself and myself got in the day.

Don't worry, we will have our day, I'm sure and thanks for your support. Maybe some of your other Casualty fans will lend a little support too. If it takes six months to achieve something, that would be fine by me.

UKTV Gold, why are you still ignoring your viewers...? We are tired of being bullied as if we are of no value.... or do you simply have no backbone or management structure....? Angry

Yes Sally they have given that impression both in the thread and on the TV apparently. BUT we should not believe them, they have little or no credibility when it comes to being honest with their viewers, they are more interested in how they can find a way to dissappoint us.

So we will really have to wait until September to see if they re show the episodes shown over the weekends, if at least they would let us know for sure it might go some way to appease those who are currently feeling the upset. Don't worry though it will be more ammunition for us if they renage and don't be surprised if it is the case, in other words, don't expect to see them in September, best advice is to try and get somebody to record them for you if you can't see them on the weekend.

Harsh...? Emm I don't think so. You dont seem to have any idea how much you are responsible for disappointing people as much as you have and for what its worth it is good to see that at least you will be continuing where you left off.

BUT.

For how long....?

How far do you propose to carry on the series and will it only be 11 and 5 or will there be odd shows early in the morning as some viewers have been upset about...? Please do not simply address the few Dallas fans but take on the whole picture. How much can we depend on UKTV for consistency....? If people are wondering why this quick response, my email is set to receive the latest posting. This is not just a matter of Dallas but it's really a matter of principle. We pay our dues, how harsh is that...?

Will you now answer us without running off again, we are listening intently. How consistent will you be in showing future episodes and series, we would seriously like to know.

We have just taken a look at that link and to be very honest, it looks good especially for us personally as the month of September will be taken up with our newborn priority so there will be no disturbances for us on Saturdays or Sundays until then. Phones will be off, computers will be shut down, front and back doors locked.... until September as No doubt we will miss most episodes in September. (but we will still be watching...!)

Ok personally we are happy for the moment and I really hope everybody else is too. FOR THE MOMENT..! We still need to know about how consistent UKTV can promise us they will be for the future particularly for us Dallas fans but let's not forget our "Casualty" and "The Bill" friends, we will all need to keep together in the future and I am really serious about this so hopefully we can all stay in contact on this or a similar thread....

Mr. R. UKTV can we depend on your future support and let us know what is happening.... before we switch on just to be disappointed...?

Hi everybody, I don't wish to be a pain in the backside but there doesn't seem to much reaction to UKTV's eventual announcement.... if we remain silent chances are the same thing will happen again. Is there anybody still interested to try and get a definitive reply from UKTV about future showings...? I admit some of my responses may have been a little OTT but hey thats what happens when people are bitterly disappointed, isn't it important to voice your feelings....?

Anyway it was a great weekend of viewing on Dallas, we were spoilt and managed to get all 5 episodes in and what enlightenment... At last classic episodes.......! These are all storylines I missed in the early 80's. After almost 25 years finally now it’s possible to see how Miss Ellie met Clayton, the history of Southern Cross Ranch is more clear, the introduction of Sly and (sad to see that poor oul Jock is slowly slipping away from coming back... in real life at the time he was having Kimo therapy for his cancer), sadly it is clear he is being slowly written out of the story by Ms Ellie being back from the second honeymoon, without Jock, how young Christopher was introduced and Pam attempting to commit suicide….! If you havent seen it yet, highly recommended to watch it all in September.

Some of you might be interested that with a little research on Howard Keel (Clayton) who you might recall from movies like "Carousel", "Calamity Jane", "Show Boat" and "Annie get ur Gun" it is particularly nostalgic to hear that he only passed away in late 2004 and Dallas was his only real success in his acting career due to personal circumstances. I was very saddened to see that considering those movies are such classics....

I have to say it is honestly great to have this show back on the air even if it is showing at a bad time at the moment. It's a pity we almost lost it but I do hope the plans are to continue showing it through to the end.

UKTV are you still watching or is it not so important to you... Is it possible to get a full update ...?

Another five superb Dallas episodes, clearly demonstrating why it has to be the BEST soap opera and quality tv viewing not to be missed from September but where is everybody...! If we go silent now, don't be surprised if the same haphazard things start to happen in the future as with the other programmes. Just take a look at the other threads in the message board link above... practically everybody has some form of complaint or other and it's no surprise seeing as people complain but then fall short when it comes to doing something about it. UKTV need to confirm their commitment to their viewers the same way viewers commit to paying for tv services.

Thread comments seem to have declined over the past week or two, UKTV I wonder if viewing has dropped too.....

What's the story, will we have Dallas until all of the complete series have been shown to the very end...? Look what it might do for your ratings....

Well said Joycey et all, they have done it once they will do it again and I am completely at a loss to understand why they will not take any heed to our concerns. This might be a silly anallagy but if you buy a loaf of bread and it's not fresh on the inside you take it back because there is something wrong with it, get a new one after you complain and the shop manager will explain to you how it will not happen again so that he keeps your business. UKTV don't seem to recognise this principle or believe they don't have to recognise it. Maybe we need better exposure for bringing attention to the issue other than this thread. I wonder if they actually read this thread even though they started it...? but one thing is for certain, they will surely parlay with us at some stage. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

Come on UKTV lets chat, what are you afraid of, promise to be easy on you if you take onboard and listen to our concerns..... Smile

Hopefully there are not too many people like Kacie who are upset that we have to watch the weekend shows again during September but if you get a chance to read the early messages in the tthreads Kacie you should see how people were so upset at the sudden departure from our TV screens without any notice that it seems UKTV can in fact partially listen to its viewers and they have given the people most bitterly disappointed an opportunity to see the episodes they missed. My partner and I are some of the lucky ones who managed to catch them all in August and our circumstances in September mean we will probably miss most of the shows but it's still good to know that people who missed all of August wil get a chance to see them all again. Added to that, they are some of the most classic shows, I would have no problem sitting down to watch them again if I can...

But we still need to hear some form of commitment from UKTV for the future, how long will it be until our next disappointment, it is difficult to have any confidence from what we can see from most UKTV viewers comments especially in this thread but also in some of the other threads on the site also.

Maybe David R has gone on holiday again... Frown

Hi Scamp 1, dont worry, they (UKTV) are repeating because they upset so many loyal viewers back at the beginning of August.... have a look at the previous messages in this thread. New episodes starting again later this month, enjoy the repeats...! They are really good classic shows.

We had a little boy 8lbs 15 ozs, will we call him JR, BObby or Jock...? What ya' all think...?

Thanks Joysey...! I laughed so much at your message, in the end we settled on Elijah because it looks like we will need his help with a miracle or two when it comes to dealing with UKTV especially since reading Jules message above....!

Isn't this exactly what we expected to happen from UKTV... No commitment and wait until the last minute to disappoint everybody again. Thanks for the information Jules, can you tell us how you came across it again, Wikipedia...?

I have got to say it again, Dallas is super entertainment and I cannot understand why the powers that be cannot see this clearly. I can now see why it's something I didnt notice before, some episodes are directed by Patrick Duffy and some are directed by Larry Hagman and then again other directors take charge in different episodes. Obviously this accounts for the variety in the subjects and how it is impossible to predict what will happen next and what makes the shows so good.

So is it now time to inundate uktv with requests for clarification or are we to sit and wait to be disappointed yet again...?

Can we garner a bit of support from our colleagues who have issues with other programmes...?

Chips

I see now that somebody elses message have been deleted too... where is the message about blockbusters gone.... What on earth is going on here....?

Are people aware this site seems to be censored... Is anybody willing to network on a separate link one that is uncensored by UKTV...?

I would like to know more about this blockbuster option and absolutely disgusted with the way we are being treated. If there is an option, personally I would like to take it. This is the second time in quick succession UKTV have done this and I think it's quite dispicable. We are being treated with utter contempt.

I have taken a copy of this message and willing to continue posting it with more stuff if it's deleted again.

And I will bet they think this is funny.... Angry UKTV by deleting messages you are only bringing out the badness in people, please stop doing that.

Thanks for the information on Blockbusters Geordie. For anybody interested there is a petition started on another thread on the main message board.

I still cannot believe the amateur behaviour of TV gold how they expect improvement in ratings when they go on like this.

Why not stay in touch Dallas fans, you never know we just might get them to change their minds and listen to their loyal viewers....
