It seems that there has been an invasion of soaps on uk gold and there is no doubt that there is a lot of soap fans out there. But uk gold started out as a comedy and drama channel. why cant the soap fans gat there own channel instead of taking up valuble programming time on uk gold

I would also like to agree with stormcat perhaps some new blood could be brought into the uk gold schedule. As long as it is not boring old soaps they remind me of staying behind at school for dictation. I can rattle off numerous amounts of programmes uk gold might consider-Alas smith and jones, anyone for Pennis,Arthur haynes entertains (oldie),bang bang its Reeves and mortimer,Benny hill,Beryls lot,Bewitched,Billy Liar,Bootsie and Snudge, the Baron knights show,Cannon and Ball,etc a/b only to mention afew programmes,surely some of these are excess able to uk gold

There could be great scope to develop this channel and increase its audience but its the same old tired management that churns out the same programmes. It is like the film groundhog day.

Richard Briars was at the height of his career when making the other one,but it is has been forgotten, though at the time it was considered to be one of Richards best comedies.Can we please see it on uk drama.

richard you cannot be serious, casualty 1-6 series, for god sake man these soaps are rubbish. cant you think of something more interesting. I hear the BBC are willing to give a cheap linence for showing the test card a lot more interesting than causalty

. Do you remember that happy smiling little girl sitting next to the blackboard with a clown doll? Why cant we have that rather than the depressing Eastenders where dramatic overacting is the order of the day, plus appaling scripts. This seems to me like a housewifes form of escapism. The test card gets my vote every time, by the way does anybody know who won the noughts and crosses.

Dont listen to remarks saying put soaps on at peak times they are shown at peak times on terrestial tv and repeated on ITV2 and BBC3 in the evening. People watch UK gold to get away from all the cheap soaps

The number of soaps now being shown on UK gold over the Easter ruined the viewing Holby, casulty, The bill. Too much on terrestrial tv as it is and repeated on ITV2and BBC3. Sanctuary please Richard!

The amount of people I talk to now who have switched over to watch UK gold rather than BBC or ITV does not surprise me, both channels have become very money grabbing. BBC have now followed ITV and Channel Four by putting on reality tv shows where the audience phone to vote for who or what they like in accordance with the show. These phone calls are based on a fixed rate where the channel takes a large percentage of the phone profits,the shows are also cheap to run. The downside of this is that most of the audience are bored of these reality tv shows and know that they are being made mugs of and are now switching channels in thier droves to channels like UKgold to watch real tv shows that are worth watching,thanks UK gold
