Yes cornetto, September 10 if I'm not mistaken. Same time, same channel Smile

Let's see what transpires! I so wish for a lively, daily, fresh program that I'll like.

Maybe it will lose it's "fatuous" title! That would be great.

Yes lets hope they've learned a bit since the last one UKTV food really need something especially when Gary goes off. It has been fun watching Gary arguing with the In dian ladies he is not great at taking instruction - but a few of them put up a fight.

Yes, siouxsie...hope does indeed spring eternal.

They will have HAD to have learnt something from the past six months' of programming disasters.

And I agree, it would be nice if MK became a watchable, enjoyable programme.

I don't hold out much hope for major changes as contracts are probably involved at every level, including the "Talent". Filming should have already started last week so perhaps ::adam has some insider info on possible improvements to the show. New cameramen maybe?

As for here downunder, MK hasn't yet appeared on the horizon, even at the end of September it's not showing on the listings? Good news, perhaps?

Well the promos have already started on UKTVFood, siouxsie, and it doesn't look like much has been altered?

Welcome back, the one and only Reg Citroen, a good holiday I trust! You didn't miss anything, the airing of "diaries" was a complete flop - ask predicted by many.

What's your take on the new season?? Wink

It looks as though season 2 of Market Kitchen is not yet scheduled to air here down under, which - if it remains the same - would be a blessing.

Has it started to air there yet? Any changes to the program? Hopefully, hopefully....?

The 'new season' doesn't look good! Time is now 08.51 and although Market Kitchen is supposedly being screened - so why am I watching an old Rachael Allen repeat? Is this a sign that UKTV are reverting to their old and favourite tried formula of endless repeats of previous repeats adfinitum? Frown

Billy, it does appear that we're back on the "old formula" from before the summer. Gone is the variety of shows of the past 12 weeks or so and back comes the old over-done repeats and Market Kitchen. Mad Mad

Well, nothing has changed with this awful program. It looks like we'll just have to endure it until they cancel it from its own *dead* weight Angry

Yes, Season 2 is as bad as Season 1.

As someone said on another thread, Market Kitchen is like the horror of the movie Groundhog Day, waking up day after day with the same undesirable outcome. Whoever produces this show doesn't seem to know anything about food, and certainly isn't a foody. They also don't seem to know much about good television, either.

Of all the great TV shows out there, what can these people be thinking with this programme? Do they think it is engaging? Do they think it is entertaining? UKTVFood has shot themselves in the foot (head?) with this dreadful fare.

I agree, we truly are seeing a regurgitation of Season 1 of Market Kitchen. Frown Not a creative or positive change to the show has been made. Clearly they DID go on holidays during the break.

Eek this may be why we're not seeing it yet here? On another thread they've said Tana is now gone. Is this true?

Unfortunately I don't think Tana is actually gone. She's still listed as a presenter on this site as well as the show's credits. Someone else has suggested she's on holiday?

Falafel reading between the lines on the home page, I think that she may actually be gone for good. Fading away is a good technique to handle any political fall-out and makes the transition so gentle it may be imperceptible.

And frankly I don't know why she'd want to do this turkey of a show. It hasn't done her career any favours and all she'd havbe to do is read this board once, really, to get a glimpse as to how she is perceived on screen.

Seeing her on other shows I don't know if it is her, I think it may just be what MK does to everyone.

Well I think you've all got it all wrong - Environmentally and relaxing wise it is an essential programme.

Otherwise I would never turn the TV off and have a kip.

Fatuous, indeed!

Thanks dougy, I think I agree with your analysis. I haven't checked the show this week yet but I'm assuming she's still off the programme?

Well that's only my guess, I have absolutely no information on the topic!

Cancellation would seem the natural outcome of any failed TV series. And sooner rather than later.

At some point the sponsor will tire of paying the big bucks for a programme that few except diehards watch - worse, it's a programme that creates anger and bad will towards the sponsor.

If there were only a device to measure how many watch the whole programme through, in its entirety, that would surely be revealing IMO.

The only punt is exactly when the cancellation will occur. The guess "Around Christmas" is only because that's a natural programming break.

Hang on bev! Develish Develish

Sorry to let you know Doug that Waitrose committed to an entire year. Unlikely that they can get out of that commitment unless UKVFood/Optimen agrees to release them due to the poor ratings.

Possible, but don't bet on it. They don't have anything in the wings to replace it with.

Yes, a WHOLE YEAR! Angry What a waste of advertising dollars for Waitrose.

Hopefully they're getting a rebate or comp time on another channel somewhere!
