Hello again people. Have watched Mkt Kitchen Mon, Tues. could not watch anymore and I didn't manage to watch the whole of the programme on these days. Boring, uninteresting, didn't want to hear all about Clarridges and "what I do" - want good quality presenting and good quality information as we used to have - we need that live programme until things change I won't be watching UKTV Food again. Amanada you and your team are completely missing the point here - keep market kitchen if you like, but you have lost the face of UKTV Food - the face was GFL. Cry

Hi All

I am normally a reader of the Message Board and like alot of others have now felt obliged to comment on this new programme.

This is a badly hid vehicle for Ramsay Holdings. The nauseating chit chat between Sarge & Tana was the final straw for me. I have no interest in Pea Puree in light switches, Stop It! I like Gordon Ramsay (although he was bordering on over kill, for a while there), and I have no doubt his wife is a nice lady, nontheless a career in presenting and cooking is not really for her. As we know her husband is a chef, however it dosen't make her one.

I feel cheated with the demise of GFL and I agree that UKTV have really missed the boat here, and have not listened to what the audience wants.

Dear Amanda,
I don't support the bring back Jenni campaign nor GFL; she was neither funny nor entertaining just rude beyond belief and GFL was timeserved. However this is a poor show and when it has bedded down and you conduct your market research you will discover just how bad it is. There is so much TV available the success or failure of one programme only matters to the company and it's sponsor because viewers will move on to something else.Listen to your customers and put it right.

My wife introduced me to UK food, as that was the channel she most frequently watched. I became an avid fan of Food uncut and GFL, before I began watching these programmes I could hardly boil an egg, but the information, techniques and ideas that these programmes provided, which were presented and executed in a professional way, encouraged me to take up cooking, and I although I am not an expert, I am getting better and thoroughly enjoying it. BUT, if I was subjected to the boring rubbish that is now being served up i.e. the Market kitchen, I doubt whether I would have ever been interested in starting to cook. Luckily there are quite a few class cookery programmes being aired by both the BBC and ITV. I now record these of a day and watch them in the evening. UK food now hardly gets a look in. UK Food, admit you got it wrong and bring back Food uncut and GFL and regain your crown as a top cookery programme provider.

Like lots and lots of others who have taken the time to post a message -MARKET KITCHEN IS BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried a couple of times this week to watch, but found my mind wandering, then my body (off to the kitchen, bathroom, garden etc) so finally just switched the t.v. off!
GFL was at least informative and educational. The top chefs and guests they had on the show, proved what these professionals thought of the show by simply appearing on them. Would they bother with Market Kitchen I wonder - but think they probably wouldn't be seen dead on such a dull programme.
Am I the only one who actually finds Tana Ramsey rude to the other presenters? At least Jeni was rude in a cheeky sort of flippant way, that nobody could take offence at.
Please, please give us a better programme.

AND AMANDA BRING BACK GOOD FOOD LIVE my lunch times are so lonesome without the jolly jeni. Develish

How can they tell how many people are watching a programme? Please could some one tell me? Apart from the fact it is going out at the wrong time in the evening when there are other popular programmes at the same time going out - can there really be more than 10? Not that I would watch it if it did go out at another time because i do not find it interesting enough - so sorry!

Having been a GFL regular I was very dissapointed that it was axed. I watched it every day.
I was sceptical from the off with this MARKET kITCHEN programme.
Well I was right . What a yawn. Poor presenters linked to somebody famous in some way. Sarge being drafted in to boost the bosses missus. Who is going to come on for the Bowles Boy Paul Burrell?
Turgid, boring & an insult.
You have lost me as a viewer & judging by other comments on here I'm in the Majority.
BRING BACK JENNY Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

I was a big fan of Jeni and GFL and I tried to be open-minded when I watched Market Kitchen on Monday evening. What a big disappointment that was! It seems to me that the big money Waitrose has thrown the channel has clouded the producers’ judgement and forced them to come up with a concept of a programme rather in haste.

So far as I can tell, the main idea behind the series is to pack as many people in the same place as possible and make the cooks/presenters move from one side of the “café” to the other with a mug in the hand, going past members of the public and other cooks/presenters sitting in amazement at how much walking needs to be done these days to do a cookery show.

Some scripted bits (and God we know it’s scripted) will be done by a guy sitting on a chair (Matt, I think), in such a “relaxed” manner that it could be falling off it very soon, or by Tana and her trendy boots, perched this time on a high stool.

Topics will be discussed, such as junk food (which even seems to bore the guy who came to talk about it) and there will also be men in black wandering about (waiters, are they?).

To break the pace even more, we will put a poor woman outside in the cold to see if she can cook a rabbit when it’s windy and miserable. Comments by the presenters will be allowed, so viewers will be thrilled to learn that Tana tends to hide peas in her fish pie for her son not to see them… or make a huge mess when she uses her food processor… do I need to go on? There is simply too much going on for my liking, all I want is recipes presented in a focused, fun and genuine manner.

Time to bring Jeni back, and fast.

GFL had so much energy - jeni had chemistry with everyone that was on the show - her little camera asides were great and really involved the audience. I was trying to be diplomatic and reserve judgement on this MK, but I can stay silent no longer!!!

There is no chemistry between any of the presenters never mind the odd splattering of randomers around the outside!! I am convinced Tana actively dislikes Matt, well her manner certainly seems to indicate that - it looks like she can barely read her lines to him!!

There is no involvement of the audience at home, there is no humour - they don't laugh or joke or interact in any way that makes you want to watch...

Sorry - but this is a loser!!

I used to love coming home from a nightmare day at work - when you don't want to speak to anyone, pour a glass of wine, and watch jeni and Ollie or Brian Turner, or rimmer or whoever (even Ed Baines was bareable when Jeni was around...) and it really made your day at work seem far away and directed thoughts to dinner!! (and always made you smile!!) someone said jeni had more energy in her big toe...I couldnt agree more...

(sorry for the rant...but couldnt help it)

When will the makers of Market Kitchen listen to their public.
Take the show off air now before UKTV loses all credibility.

Confused just been reading all the comments and I can't help but agree with them. The programme is boring, badly presented and uninformative. I do object to being shown how to cook by someone with no experience as a cook/chef. The attempts at debate are poor and we are not being given the variety of subjects we had previously getting. It is also very obvious that the programme is not live and why are all the people milling around in the background? Mad

Thankfully I haven't seen another programme quite as tedious as MG in YEARS....

This is not going to work, that much is obvious. You can forgive various bits and pieces not working too well in early programmes, but you cannot get over having dull and talentless hosts.

Jenni, like or hate her, was a breath of fresh air, and GFL, for all the years it was on the box, never became tired.

Sorry, MG will lose viewers hand over fist. Watch the ratings drop.

Could we PLEASE have an explanation as to why GFL was axed to start with ?
Has there been any word from UK food bosses at all about the reason ? We deserve an explanation, or don't viewers matter now ?

well trendy people being ernest about food ( and the chance to win Waitrose Vouchers great )
Well the tristrams who produce the programs think they know what the viewers want.
Personally I think it is a bland program with no FUN
Needless to say bring make Jeni

Hello All,
Iv'e been mulling over a few thoughts about "Market Kitchen" and realise that uktv food has probably spent a few bob on the set with fixtures and fittings,so they will want some mileage out of that... but get Jenni B in to front it and hey! what about someone like Richard Arnold (GMTV) to serve up the tea & coffee in the background with the odd quip ? he seems to know a bit about food
and at least has a personality can anybody come up with suggestions for the producers for when the current team leave(not too long we hope...) Big Grin

Why oh why are the bosses not listening to any of us, on nearly all the message boards we are (99.9%) telling them we dont like the drivel they are showing us.
Prehaps they are hoping we the viewers will settle down to this tosh, we wont.
Surely like everyone says keep the ramseys kitchen but also put back GFL and compaire the two for viewing figures, Im not a betting man but know who I would back.
Watrose might be throwing loads of money into this venture but there on to a loser.
I now find my evenings taken up by reading all the message boards rather than having to watch another episode of the wooden tops (nah the wooden tops were more interesting)
happy cooking everybody.
Up the revolution Big Grin

I have given Market Kitchen a try - I didn't want to be too hasty or condemnatory having enjoyed GFL with Jeni so much but I couldn't understand why my attention was wandering all the time and like another message boarder kept getting up to do a little light gardening, talk to the dog or make another cup or tea, get glass of wine, dust, etc!! This NEVER happened during GFL. I really cannot watch this amateurish programme any more. I just wish that the presenters would talk to us a little apart from the intro and the farewell and not just mumble and grumble to each other. It is obvious that Matt and Tania don't get on, she's continually needling him and he is quite obviously just going along with the show. What on earth are all those bored looking people in the cafe doing? And I thought this was supposed to be a live show from Borough Market? It's not live, it is uninteresting apart from one or maybe two items and I have now switched off each programme after about 10 minutes - then gone back to give it another try and again switched off. I see that Amanda of UKTV has been patting UKTV Food on the back again - can she not hear the frustration in viewers comments at not being listened to. I can just hear the discussions in the post programme offices about how the listeners don't really know what they're talking about and don't really know what they want and anyway they don't represent the viewing public. I know, I've been there!! WAITROSE, wake up and smell the roses!

Tedious program but must have been pitched well in the trendy bar where they all meet.
How can UKTV Food make such a pigs ear of their programing.

I am (or was) a big fan of GLF, but have to admit this new programme is just dreadful. Its cold, poorly presented and lacks any humour or interesting information that’s its predecessor had. We are stuck with this show for the next twelve months (at least) but I do think UKTV has to get in there and sort it out if it is to become its flagship show. Of course they are not going to backtrack and bring back GLF, but if UKTV (I hope your taking this in) want to become as big as they plan, they need to inject ‘something’ into this show otherwise people will be switching off in their droves. Listen to your viewers – stop showing repeats, especially the ‘fish’ man, and invest in new, decent programmes (the new Nigella Feasts programme still needs airing!). I am going to give Market Kitchen another chance next week, but believe me if it hasn’t improved, I wont give it another!!!

I am not an avid TV viewer but watching UKTV food has been a regular pastime over the past 3-4 years for me, the highlight being Great Food Live.
I don't wish to be seen to be jumping on any bandwagon but I would just like to get a a couple of points across.
1) It is the height of arrogance and rudeness to not have the decency to offer all those who have posted on the message board, a reason for GFL being taken off air. If you have done this, I apologise, but I am unable to find your explanation on this website.
2) I am a 34 year old male, and, not wishing to be sexist, probably not representative of your target demographic. However, if, even I, a fully employed, new parent, with little time to spare, feel compelled to post this message, then that should indicate the strength of feeling there is out there for your recent changes and attitude to accountability.

In conclusion, stop the cowardly, ignorant refusal to respond to your critics now. If you have a genuine reason then let us all hear it. It's hardly going to pose a threat to national security is it? So why the silence?

I will not bother to have a go at your replacement programme. Plenty already have and will continue to do so. Suffice to say, if you are hoping that the presenters will settle into their roles and the audience will warm to the format all I can say is, cast your minds back to Food Uncut..........sends a shiver down your spine doesn't it. Sorry, I was forgeting you would need a spine for that to happen.

Have to agree with all the comments about the NEW SHOW. Yuk I am sorry and I did try but MK has nothing on GFL. What a shame UKTV have not replied to the wishes of the people that watch. They should remember that it is us the viewers that watch their programmes and if we dont tune in their station will go down the pan.
