Hi to all,[link]
As I started this thread have popped back to read the comments, seems 99%
agree it's not interesting viewing to say the least...
If you are reading this Amada Smith (uktv food person, see above) There are
4 Things that made GFL a fantastic programme>
1. Jenni had PERSONALITY..
2. We were talked to as friends by her and the team...
3.We were treated as if we had some knowhow about food (making a roux in the first part of the programme?)
4.Jenni didn't take herself or the cooking too seriously which made what could have been mundane cooking items still enjoyable...
Get these things right and the viewing figures will stay high not just in the first couple of weeks of the new show, otherwise ?
Amanda, I feel you are being very patronising saying that we basically need to adjust to MK, we are not children and to me thats like saying after I have been eating Oysters heres some cockles you will get used to them!!, also as for the viewer figures a new show will always attract them but keeping them is another thing, MK is awful you had a winning formula that actually heavily contributed to my decision to get broadband and have replaced it with a wishy washy programme and then tell us that WE WILL like it???? and how many of those "viewers" were actually awake?, Tana seems a very nice lady but she is not presenter material, she does not appear to like critisism, Mark is obviously a great chef but isn't either, you obviously put the totty on for the ladies but I am afraid you will just end up with a message board like the Beebs food/tv/James martin fan club which is not a lot about food more about James himself, please do not think we can be fobbed off like this and please listen to what we are (98% at least) saying. Thanks, Carole.
Bless Amanda Smith her ability to gloss over the most vicious criticism of a programme is unsurpassed.
Would that all life were so easily covered up

Hello Every one
I have just watched my first market Kitchen and I can say it will be my last.
Please bring bacl GFL and Jenny.
If I were a tv boss i would be slightly concerned at the amount of negative comments on Market Kitchen. I am a creative contructive person who does not tend to critise and likes to give new things a chance - i thrive on new. Who is Market Kitchen aimed? I honestly can't work it out? - Maybe there is a big audience waiting for this show but why does a very popular programme have to disappear to make room, surely a television channel would be aiming for MANY sucessful programmes. Amanda if you really must insist on keeping this programme on please please bring back Good Food Live - I have a teenaged son and younger daughter - my teenage son is in to Punk has his own band and is pretty cool but he loved GFL and would laugh like i havent seen in along time and has started to cook, my daughter helps in the kitchen and keeps saying why did they take that programme away that was fun. Honestly there are not many programmes that whole families will watch but GFL was one of them and Market Kitchen isn't . IF Market Kitchen has to be on can we not have both . Please Please Please do not sensor this message.
Has anyone noticed, there are 2 separate message board Threads now running about MK, one under "Whats on UKTV Food" and this one, under "Food Chat". Given the amount of controversey this program is provoking, isnt it about time MK was given its own main Topic, and the comments in the existing threads consolidated into one?
Again, I must say how dull and boring I'm finding MK. The presenters are wrong in my opinion. Very amateurish.
I have just read Amanda Smith's post and I cannot believe it. I think UKTV Food should be very concerned about the negative response to Market Garden and do something about it. Posting patronising messages does not cut the mustard.
Maybe they're just bedding in. But currently the programme is awful. That's not in comparison with GFL, or any other food show, it's just plain awful. Terrible presenters speaking to obvious autocue, boring features, no sense of 'live' tv, uninspired set, 'artistic' (read sloppy) camera work, embarassing 'now over to the studio audience' pieces, completely faked supposedly real set, no buzz, no life.
New Market Kitchen is a vehicle for wannabes and people who have famous relatives
Who is Tana Ramsey ? and whats more who cares- what has she done?, we know what her huusband does (mostly swears)
and what about Parker Bowles who would hire him without his famlous name.
The show is terrible watched it once will not watch it again.
Bring back Jeni and GFL what idiots pulled the plug and why ? seriously does anybody know?
Who was the bright spark who thought up this load of boring rubbish?
They will never replace Jeni Barnett in any shape or form.
A bunch of sad losers

Didn't realise there was two threads going on this web site re the "Market Kitchen" however they appear to be running the same comments on the poor quality of the New programme compared to GFL, thought some of you may enjoy the link at the top ?....
Amanda, if you seriously think for one minute that we're going to warm to this garbage instead of Jeni, then you need medication. If you had put this on a couple of months before GFL was taken off air, it might have been a different story. No thought about possible viewers reaactions was considered in the decision, which hints to me that nobody at uk food bothers what we think about anything.
What can I say. Truly terrible. I looked forward to the advertisement breaks.
I agree with most of the comments in previous posts. I have watched the programme twice now hoping that I would be pleasantly surprised but alas. The presenters are wooden and have no personality (not like Jeni) Tana should stick to cooking for the kids and looking good for Gordon, Matt is cute but he too like Tana is not a presenter. The other two TPB (was he employed by royal appointment) has all the personality of a trout and looks similar too and the other old duffer should stick to judging Great British Menu. The venue is a poor man's F word kitchen with gormless people milling around and gazing aimlessly, dreadful camera work, with obvious autocue reading and staged questions from the people hanging around. All the meal ideas so far are boring and certainly don't compare to GFL. It seems that good old Gordon Ramsay may have shares in the venture as even this weeks guest chef (Sarge) who is equally boring and lifeless happens to run GR's restaurant. This programme simply didn't keep my attention and I found myself reading the TV listings which obviously had more appeal! I will not be watching this programme again and can't understand the logic of getting rid of a programme with great format, presenter and great guest chefs in favour of this amateur totally rubbish programme. Can UKTV food really afford to ditch their flagship programme? I think they have totally got it wrong as they did with Food Uncut although they persisted with that until they had to bring back GFL extra again. Please Please bring back Jeni.
Market Kitchen is more Blue Peter than a serious cookery program bring back Jenny please.
Guys do we really have to watch this drivel. watched approx 15 mins and have never been so relieved for the commercial break to come on -Mrs Ramsay must never get chance to talk at home because she NEVER shut up.
I dont like the format too noisy not enough polish and fresh ideas ? fish pie ?
about as fresh as all the other repeats that we have to endure on this declining channel.
Sorry I really don't like anything about the new market kitchen, I love my foodie progs with a passion, leave it to Gordon Tana - after all he is THE chef. In the meantime, bring back our beloved Jenni. Splodje
Pork casserole - huh - we learned that in the first year with Jeni and GFL!!
Give us some better recipes please!!! And some interesting people in the cafe - what a load of morons.
Its not just pork casserole or fish pie, but bacon with a can of tomatoes, genius!
I watched approximately 15 minutes of Market Garden and switched off!! What a dreadful replacement for GFL! Tried again next day and, guess what, same result! Undoubtedly UKTV Food has got it wrong - a case of 'I told you so' perhaps?! And as for the camera work - absolutely atrocious!!
Bring back Jeni and her spontaneity!!!!
I'm furious they've taken jenni off our screens to replace her with that characterless robot with zero presenting talent. She even makes the lovely Matt look wooden such is the obvious lack of chemistry. I don't want to watch someone make the fish pie they dish up to their children, I want to be excited and transported by dishes, even if I never give it a go myself. Jenni brought out the best in her guests. She was flirtatious, coy, hilariously funny adn knowledgeable. I suspect she wasn't given that much notice either as in the last two weeks of the show she seemed pretty fed up. I rarely turn off foodie programmes but New Market Kitchen had me reaching for the remote on the first viewing after just ten minutes. Second time around I lasted five. It's just so confusing, uninteresting and the set is very old-fashioned, a hark back to the 80s. No I'll be watching the entertainment channel when its on. Bring Back Jenni
Amanda....I know you are putting forward the company line but do you have to be so patronising? Read the mesages. Take in what is being said. Market Kitchen is not liked. I agree there is room for new programmes but not at the expense of much loved ones. And as for your comment about viewing figures i would love to know how you arrive at your conclusion. Who is being asked? Comments on this message board would seem to indicate that fewer people are watching. I am certainly one of them. Bored with the repeats and with no interest in watching Market Kitchen is there anything worth watching on UKTV Food anymore?
Golly, isn't it so absolutely and utterly boring, so serious I could scream. Thank goodness the Beeb have started a couple of new cooking programmes on Beeb 2 and we have the two Saturday cooking programmes and of course our Wozza most days. Sorry UKTV but I think you may have got it wrong this time, like you did with Food uncut last year.
I wish I knew why UKTV Food don't ever seem to want to hear what their viewers have to say
