Hi..this is my first post! I just want to agree with everyone concerning the low quality programme that is Market Kitchen. I have watched it twice now. I don't need to comment about the aloof presenters and terrible format as it has already been said.

But in today repeats, I really found some of the comments made by Bryn Williams a bit of an insult. Especially when he mentioned about reducing the portions of main meals so people would order puds! Of course, we all know this is common practicte in the restaurant trade - but he seemed so smug in telling his mate about it. Not to mention the state of that awful pud - oily doughnuts with creamy panacotta - eugh.

Won't be watching anymore!

Did anyone notice tonite's prog, where Will from last night with the flowery apron and making pancakes, was in the audience again tonite. Are they getting short of people to attend? Wink

I am affraid I have given the replacement for GFL a chance and can only say it is a really poor replacement. So far I have seen nothing that makes me want to continue watching the programme and frankly I do not think I will continue to watch. It has to be said the presenters are poor, wooden and have no charisma. The chefs are non inspirational. The "outdoor" cooks absolutely pathetic. Sorry ...well actually no not sorry ...I wont be watching!

haha pocket battleship - it makes me laugh that you watched the show on two consecutive nights, and obviously paid such attention to detail that you remember the audience members and yet you are still taking the time and effort to come on teh message board to complain! Come on be honest - you watch MK every night dont you?! Wink

Tonight's show featured Barramundi but failed to tell us what we might expect to pay per Kg how does it compare with seabass of same weight (I pay £2.40 per Kg trade price for the seabass). I like the idea of serving the 350g individual fishes at a forthcoming dinner party for eight. This will be my recipe: whole fish scaled, gutted; make angled cuts in the sides of the fish and dust with flour, salt & pepper and cornflower. Deep fry 5 mins and drain. make a black bean sauce. Ladle pool of sauce onto plate with a mound of fresh egg noodles on the side. Place the fish on top of sauce & garnish with coriander leaf.

I have tried and tried again to be objective about MK.To-night Faggots. Yuk Suet !!!That artery clogging ingredient- when was that freely available for sale???I switched off for a while and clicked back on to scallops---3 people trying to open them ????????????????It is probably at least 10 years since I could purchase Scallops in the shell.I have a great fish monger but I am sorry no shells any more . Distastrous show .Please do not treat us as imbeciles.

Just looking at these comments about the new series season makes me wonder why another season was ever put into production? Watching grass grow indeed!

It appears that this show has been in disfavour ever since the beginning? Confused The comments go on and on and on. Only Rhodes has ever sparked as much dislike as far as I can see.

Why would they continue to air this inane claptrap? It treats the audience as if we're idiots.

Yes, less sea-sickness. Instead of zooing in and out the camera only now lurks from behind corners and slowly pans. What a blessing! Develish

But you're right, the stultifying dullness remains Embarrassed and it's impossible to stay awake for an entire HOUR of this drivel.

Have given the MK 'second attempt' series another try but frankly life is too short.

However I will always value and remember GFL and the times I managed to both watch and enjoy not only the programme but also all of those who appeared on it.

I personally learned so much from the pragrammes that I would never have had the chance to even hear about had it not been on UKTV Food. It was real television, not only live but 'alive', somethng that, for me anyway, MK is not, even after the summer break and the minor cosmetic changes.

Replacing programmes with others happens all the time, with the passage of time as viewers we normally adjust, however the programme that is the replacement usually has something to offer that makes the change worthwhile one way or another so gradually builds up a following. If it doesn't it is taken off the air. From pressure of advertisers if nothing else.

Yes I am only one viewer but as someone who has worked in television for more years than I care to remember it is difficult to understand why MK, in its current form, is still being given air time.

Oh Franci how I wish someone somewhere would listen to the viewers of this dreadful programme. I'm not an expert in television as you are but I can say that I find this programme terrible.

I too cannot understand how such a substandard programme remains on the air. As knocker2 said so well, watching grass grow is more interesting.

Can we please have some better, more lively programming instead of this MK thing?

I haven't watched MK since about the third show when I decided that it really had little hope of improving.
Today I looked at the the various e-mails which I last looked at in APRIL and it seems that I was right and little or nothing has improved.
How can anything so bad which is continually criticised by the viewing public survive for so long?
I will check the e-mails again in another six months to see if I can find any positive comments and maybe just maybe I will grit my teeth and watch an episode myself on the off chance that the e-mails of the last six months have been WRONG.

That's the very peculiar thing, Sauvignon, that this show's ratings are at the bottom of the barrel, the overwhelming opinion since the first airing of this show has been negative and yet they still are broadcasting it as if it's a top rated show.

For the life of me I can't understand why it wasn't simply cancelled at the end of the first season.

If this horrible show is still airing in six months, there's no need to check the boards as the commentary will be the same. There is virtually nothing to commend this programme.

Franci, I am no expert in television but I know what I like and MK is a terrible example of television IMHO.

It's interesting to hear your words as someone who's been in the TV business and reinforce what many people are saying here.

Can they please just cancel this show and develop a new lively daily food show that we can all like?

A show that had Matthew Fort try to make a poached egg in a £100,000 diamond encrusted pot in front of Giorgio Locatelli? Give me a complete break.

Dreadful.

And he couldn't even make a poached egg! Complete drivel.
