I was wondering if there are any BBQ competitions / contests anywhere in the UK, like they have in the US? I don't want to enter, but I'd love to go along and have a look / chat with the experts.

ive been looking for similar stuff myself without any luck, anyone know of some upcomming cookery competitions in the lancashire area? cos im about to finish a catering course at college and i think itd be a fun thing to test myself.

I don't know anything about competitions here for the BBQ - but this info may help you a little.
GMTV interviewed a lovely American gentleman who lives in Dulwich, London not so long ago. He is a BBQ champion and goes to America to take part in competitions.

Do you have the TV show Great BBQ Cookoff in the UK? BIG show down under. It is absolutely brilliant! Many, many ideas on real BBQ as it evolved in the US. Makes Ainsley seem silly.

No, I haven't heard of that TV series, and can't find any info about it online either. I was hopeful that I might be able to download a couple of episodes from somewhere, but had no luck...
