hear hear tickedoff.

i have no time for anyone making negative comments about things they've seen on market kitchen each day - this means you are watching it each day. if you dont like it - dont watch it. it's quite simple.

i used to hate the show but have actually grown to quite like it if i'm honest. yeah, it's a bit 'up itself & high & mighty' but hey. so am i Big Grin

I think most every show that people watch they can think of some improvement. The fact that someone doesn't like some part of a TV Show or would like to see it changed doesn't mean that they'll simply not watch it. If that were the case people probably wouldn't watch anything.

Absolutely. No programme is perfect. Remember the firestorm over Rhodes Across India? Sometimes these producers just get it plain wrong.

Sorry, nothing will save this programme over the long haul.

This is hardly earth-shattering programing, no matter who's looking at it. It's all been done before 10,000 times. Please, how boring can you be?? Just get rid of it.

I think the only people that are championing this dreadful program are those that simply didn't care for Good Food Live. As simple as that. Fair enough, but hardly enough reason to champion this awful show.

Right on, barry! Awful programming. I also am with you - those that seem to keep posting their love of Market Kitchen are the same posters that were always cricial of Jeni Barnett. We all know who they are.

Case in point: have you seen ANY posts over the past year where someone said that they liked GFL *and* that they also liked MK??? Very few and far between.

My theory: those that like MK *only* like it because it is NOT the old Great Food Live that they despised.

IMHO, hardly a valid reason to like MK.

I think that MK's popularity is much, much less than any statistics show. We only watch it because it is the only new food programme airing. Sad. Everything else we've seen 65784 times before.

It would be nice just to see GFL once again....it was a breath of fresh air.

Big changes to the line-up it seems but I'm with Bazza, nothing will save the show in the long run. It's just a flawed programming concept. And why do they need so MANY presenters? It hasn't been able to develop any character because every week they keep switching around everyone.

So how many official presenters are there now? From what they say on the web, I count 6.

Well this show will never go down as one of the better cooking programmes from Britain, it has improved since those early days. It was unawatchable for the first few months.

Now everyone seems to have settled in and watching it for a quarter hour or so is quite do-able.

They really do need to add some elements of interest, though.

It might not be the best but it is better than the jenny barnett show aka good or great food live. It is a cookery programme and not a oh look at me aint I great programme.

I'm with you 1000% basky on this one. The change to Sylvana will inject some direly needed pizzazz into this glacially paced production. The new faces are most welcome Smile

PS I think Tebbutt is not long for the show...like that mousse he tried to make back in Jan, he just doesn't gel.

Come on now, please.
Look I was never a great fan of J.B. in the latter years but please, please, let's not make everything on here degenerate to what it was a few months back.
Let's be honest, M.K. is still not perfect but it is moving in the right direction and as long as people post their honest thoughts and not just the, "I hate or bring back" posts on every thread and every occasion, their points and thoughts are just as vallied as everyone elses.

Hobmaster I'm with you on this one. I always loved Sylvana. I remember her being on some show where an amateur takes over a real restaurant kitchen and tries to make a successful night out of it. sorry, don't recall the anme, but Sylvana made a mess out of it "I remember her saying "my bloody cup broke" beacuse she was using a tea cup to pound out meat Big Grin Great laughs.

She's so full of life and is very entertaining. She's a welcome addition to MK in my view. I recall also the great fun interaction with Jeni on GFL. They would try to out-interrupt one another. It always had me in stitches!!

Hope she can do the same for MK, it NEEDS it!!

Are we talking Sylvana Franco, or Sylvena Rowe here?

Hard to say isn't it? But reading the above it certainly sounds more like Silvana Rowe. That's my guess anyway.

I usually catch a portion of Market Kitchen a couple times a week and have to admit that this "revolving door of presenters" has increased the interest level of the show a tad. But for some reason they have now slipped into what seems to be a couple weeks of repeats and they are ALL episodes with TR Angry Angry

In retrospect, she WAS a major problem for the show.

I'm sorry but did anyone catch tonight's MK show??! Here was some chef trying to show us how to make a traditional English Breakfast. My, what a challenge!

Apparently so, as it was just slop. Should have been called a dog's breakfast.

Let's lift our game, please!

They must not rehexxxx these recipes before taping? That one was just terrible.

Something is really wrong at UKTVFood IMHO. Beeb seems the place to be.

Well, did you catch that episode with the monkfish competitive cook-off (God how I hate those stupid competitions)?

The guest chef made a beautiful looking sashimi dish but Matt Tebbutt took a bread knife (?!) to his fish and tore it to shreds? You'd think with all the highly edited taping of this show they'd have redone that one!! Big Grin Big Grin From the comments on this board it's clear that a lot of tape is left on the cutting room floor - especially asking the audience about the teaste of the dishes!

And why oh why does the "faux cafe" now applaud the guest chef's dish just before the commercial break?? Are they now an official TV audience and not cafe patrons?? It's embarrassing.

Tiresome fodder.
