Jenni, I watched with interest as Simon Rimmer showed us how to "fire up" (as my now grown up boys still refer to it), our Christmas Pudding safely. I have long been banned from attempting this - I have to leave it to the men, that is since I set myself on fire, the kitchen and the dining room. I was just distracted by one of the children for a second when all of a sudden my brother was ripping off my skirt, my boys were throwing a bucket of water over me and my husband was stamping out the carpet fire. (this was the second time), the first time I set the hobs on fire - now nobody trusts me I can't think why.
