Can I please pick the brains of all you good people and ask for suggestions for for a nice Christmas Breakfast for 10 people. It would nice to have something warm but not something that takes to long to prepare or if possible something that can be made in advance. Merry Christmas (Godt Jule) From Denmark

Pancakes (make batter night before) with maple syrup and bacon, or honey and vege bacon or how about porridge with pistachio’s, pecans or almonds nut cranberries and honey and a dash of cream, my granny used to make a load of porridge and store it in a drawer! Not suggesting you do that but you can pre-cook it Wink

Hi Smile
I found a recipe at chefs.com called a STRATA.
It is basically a big layered omelette, with mushrooms, garlic, eggs, bread etc and anything else you have around.
You can prepare it the night before and then just bung in the oven, while you get on with the serious job of the day>>>>unwrapping prezzies! Big Grin
Yummy! Wink

Maybe light breakfast - save yourself for lunch! Smile I warm up croissants serve with really good preserve/conserve jam or honey. Just serve with exotic fruit salad and Good Coffee (rare I drink coffee but there are times when...)(Mangoes/kiwi/papaya/passion fruit - that sort of thing) can make late Xmas Eve and leave in fridge for breakkers with a little yogurt and honey drizzled over the top. Then of course must have Bucks Fizz Royale (Ice cube - cover with measure Cointreau- orange juice and top with champagne (or Cava) Big Grin I am then ready to take on any challenge in the kitchen Develish

I's say it depends how late you want to eat lunch.
if it's more than the immeadiate family and you're eating late I'd recommend a continental hotel style brekkie, put out plenty of cereals and milk, a tray of bacon, toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, maybe a few tattie scones and plenty of fresh fruit.
if you're eating at lunch time and you've not got any allergies or whiners to deal with then go with braces suggestion, scrambled eggs with smoked applewood chedder and smoked salmon served on hot croissant with crispy sweet cure bacon on the side is my fave way of doing it, but I'll bet everyone here has a different way of doing it.

My husband and I have always had tinned Grapefruit and coffee as our christmas morning brekkie, the children their usual cereal after pressie opening. however this year we have a full house so doing the buffet breakfast as finesilver suggests - people will be getting up at different times so sausages from our trusty butcher - pork and leek in the oven, warmedbread rolls, scrambled eggs with salmon and porridge for the grandparents done in the slow cooker overnight - with some of the lovely suggestions from Jen - can't wait , thanks everyone.

Haloumi and crusty bread with some sliced tomatoes and melon is a winner with us when we have guests to stay. failing that I really don't think you can go wrong with bacon butties (although as a veggie I'd always go for the substitute)

One of the great favourites in this area of rural Leicestershire is Pork Pie and Toast - (Melton Mowbray Pork Pie of Course), with mustard if you like followed by home made marmalade.
I hasten to add I have to do this for my farming husband followed by Bacon, Sausage, Grilled tomatoes and mushrooms for my boys! take your pick both are excellent.

Hi
I think a glass of bucks fizz to start off and then smoked salmon with toasted muffins and a poached egg on top, simple but scrummy and nice and light so you don't spoil your appetite for lunch. Freshly brewed coffee is a must. If you don't like salmon some bacon done nice and crispy with a drizzle of maple syrup on the top. Enjoy! Big Grin

We don't do 'fancy' breakfasts on Xmas morning as we are always preparing for our huge lunch! We do a continental - croissants, various muffins, jams, cheeses, toast, coffee and of course Bucks Fizz!

Eggs Benedict. Thick slices of sourdough bread topped with freshly sliced ham off the bone, a lightly poached egg and a drizzle of hollandaise sauce (you can buy it in a jar). Baby spinach leaves add a little colour.

Try very small bowls of porridge finished off with demerara sugar, cream and a teaspoon of whiskey. As served at Miller Howe Hotel in Windermere when John Tovey was the owner.

Ok....ciabatta loaves halved and drizzled with olive oil and warmed in the oven. Then smear one half with wholegrain mustard, top with slices of brie, rocket leaves and crispy parma ham. Spread the other half with cranberry jelly and put on top. Slice and serve with freshly brewed strong roast continental coffee....lovely! Oh, and we always have a glass of champers before we eat. Cheeky
