I had the most fantastic rib of beef at the Savoy - beautifully cooked.

And just remembered: Porters, 17 Henrietta street, Covent Garden - wonderful British food including roasts, fish and chips and gorgeous puds like jam roly poly, etc.

2 recommendations which serve the most fantastic traditional British food: Rules on Maiden Lane, Covent Garden and Simpsons on the Strand. Yum yum!!

Yes I agree Rules in Maiden Lane is fab altho' I have to say I enjoy it more at lunch time with all the pin-striped city gents - it just adds to the englishness of it all.

The Chop House Butler Wharf
Top Floor at Smiths of Smithfield
Conservatory at The Lanesbough, they do a fixed price brunch - not overtly cheap but you can eat and drink as much as you want

Brian Turners, I've not been there but mum said it was excellent

It's a real shame that the city closes at the weekend as you have some of the finest restaurants there.

Try Wiltons and the Goring Hotel, behind BP _ The Queen Mum used to go for tea from Clarence House once a week

At Brian Turners you'll get the best Yorkshire Puddings aswell with him been a Yorkshire man. They know how cook them properly.

Have to agree with Georgie, Porters is fab, we always have to take my Stepdad there on his birthday cos he loves toad in the hole.. its excellent traditional food. Big Grin
