Everything about his show seems a bit "off". From the weird music, to the stilted host to the giant TV screens the judges use even though they are right in front of the cookers. I predict a one season run!!

I wouldn't sign out Te C. A lot of people still miss Great Food Live after all this time. You can actually detect the producers of MArket Kitchen trying to emulate GFL at evey turn - they even had TPB fire up a Weber grille outside of the studio!! And now we have the dreadful Amanda Lamb trying to emulate Jeni Barnett. The producers of this show are totally clueless. That they keep it in production is the biggest mystery of them all.

Sylvestra has hit the nail on the head. Why on earth would anyone want to support this show? As she pointed out "The whole thing could be so much better - it's badly thought out and very badly presented. A great disappointment all round."

And now we have to put up with Amanda Lamb?!?!? Good grief!

Who on earth ever decided to put Amanda Lamb on Market Kitchen !?!?! Mad What a total embarrassment this is! And to pair here up with Matt Tebbutt is adding insult to injury. She acts like a 16 year old with a crush.

I've never liked Market Kitchen but now I'm starting to wish for the bad old days with the original presenters.

This show is jumping from weakness to weakness! Angry

Dunpayin, MK has *always* gotten on my nerves! Big Grin As for TPB, he is - by far - the least offensive of the presenters. He has no ego to speak of, he is genuinely keen on food and doesn't have the annoying habits that are the hallmark of Tebbutt, Fort and Ramsay. I am glad they are juggling the line up of hosts, although I don't undertsnad why they need so many? It diminishes the personality of the show.

I had such high hopes when I first heard about the new channel as it coincided with the first airings of Market Kitchen but alas it was not to be a real alternative. I would hate, though, to be forced to make a choice only between watching Tana or Living in Spain. Perhaps a root canal as an alternative?

While it's a good idea, it looks like this ain't gonna 'appen. There must be some reason, it seems like this request is falling on deaf ears.

On this topic Barshedale and I are in total agreement.

Makes sense! It sounds like it may be a VERY touchy subject to some? Wink

Yes, and I'm one of the thousands!

But who knows if those numbers are good enough to fund such an expensive show. Sure, for a cheaply procured repeat show from the 90's, it would be. But 50 or 60,000 viewers isn't much for a major advertiser to fork out lots of ££.

And many, like me, watch MK becusase there isn't any other cooking food show on at that time. So it's more "tolerate" than "like".

OMG Eric and Ernie!! I haven't thought about them in YEARS!

MF and TPB as the new comic duo? "That's easy for you to say!" Big Grin

In all seriousness, though, MF is absolutely dreadful on this show. In fact I'm with sophie33, just be rid of it.

"More tea, Ern?" Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

As mentioned on another thread it would be really NICE if they could find the time to show some of the great iconic episodes of Great Food Live again. If I'd known GFL would fade forever into history (unlike any other food show in the UK!!!!) I would have taped them.

A feeling shared by many CassS. UKTVFood is going down the road of so much TV, like the switch to Dave, reality TV, etc. All plastic productions focussed on celebrity names and poor quality content. Why? Because it's cheaper and we let them get away with it.

Your questions make no sense Barshedale. When Jeni left and GFL ended UKTVFood obviously changed! That's obviously how she knows it's "not the same"

And for your other question regarding the plainly obvious, she posted here because she wanted to vent her feelings which are shared by many others, even after all this time.

Confused

After a year of abominable TV, they've really thrown everything, including the kitchen sink, at Market Kitchen. Every chef you can possibly imagine has been on without salvation and they are now going through yet another crop of presenters. While a tad better than when it first started, after all these tries it is still probably one of the worst food television productions attempted in the UK in recent times. Positives that need mentioning: they've stopped cooking rattlesnakes, wild squirrels and hedgehogs, they fired that camerman, reduced the amount of distended French Goose Livers used and have reduced the tiresome and repetitive "fresh, local, sustainable, food mile" preaching. Keep it up! Now, how about trying some healthy cooking?

I know what you mean by "mid morning" tV....yawn. Bad production, bad hosts, interminable commercials.

It think MK actually DID try to be something it wasn't. That's why they started out with "new" celebrities of MT, TPB and TR and giving MF a very unusual role for him. The knee-jerk cameras also tried to give a trendy "with-it" feel that only gave the viewers splitting migraines. And then the put-on "cafe" certainly is a total pretend.

In fact the name itself is totally misleading, trying to say something that is not true.

There's not a market anywhere in sight.

Ans as for "sustainable", "seasonal", "local" produce nough coments have already been made about that.

Simply put: pretentious. It DID try to be something it isn't.

To call it an hour-long dry, lifeless cooking demo is probably very accurate as Barshedale agrees.

What's wrong with that Olive asks? Well, for one, it's boring.

I don't ever recall that but I would doubt it. I'm sure she would view that as being beneath her.

Rosemary Shrager is one of Britain's best cooks, just look at the things she cooks - and tries to teach - on her programmes.

She doesn't always shout, either!! Big Grin Big Grin

Sorry, nothing will save this programme over the long haul.

This is hardly earth-shattering programing, no matter who's looking at it. It's all been done before 10,000 times. Please, how boring can you be?? Just get rid of it.

I think the only people that are championing this dreadful program are those that simply didn't care for Good Food Live. As simple as that. Fair enough, but hardly enough reason to champion this awful show.

Could it be possible that a new live daily food programme could ever be done again? Market Kitchen is just such an old idea, it's a copy of a thousand other programmes. GFL was entirely unique. That's why it was so great to watch.

Of course Jenni wasn't *everyone's* cup of tea TeC, no one is. But there is no doubt that she brought sparkle and verve to the show and I agree completely - her relationship with guests and chefs was fantastic.

The presenters are what make Market kitchen so dull, Dull, DULL. None of them have any charisma whatsoever, unlike Jenni. To me she was a complete hoot - hilarious, genuine and true to herself. ?You know what you got with Jeni, not these other four.

I too am at a loss as to explain why someone who likes cooking shows and posts 20 - 30 posts a day doesn't like any of the above mentioned professionals.
