Tickedoff, that's the same comment that I heard too. I found the wording a bit odd and thought that it might be a clue that Market Kitchen would not be returning to our screens. To me, IMHO, that would be a blessing as it would free up an hour of prime viewing time for something better (I hope). Like you, I don't watch UKTVFood nearly as much as I used to.

Has anyone heard/read whether Market Kitchen is going to be renewed for another year?

Amanda Lamb was terrible. But what is happening to Market Kitchen? Every week there are different hosts, the whole show doesn't have any consistent personality. It's just as if they're drifting around looking for "something" that works?

I think a newsagent may be just what Market Kitchen needs. And a dry cleaners. Then it could be called Village Kitchen.

I'd love to see the Emeril series broadcast here. I saw it in the states and it was great. I ate at his restaurant in Las Vegas and the meal was really fabulous. I wonder why we don't get to see all these shows? Maybe Bravo could carry them?

I am rather enjoying the new presenters. If they keep it up maybe there will be something to watch here - eventually.

Could I add RSC? Awful. Never have gotten anything useful from that show.

But Gary Rhodes has to "take the cake" as the absolutely worst food presenter/chef in all of TV land. Dreadful.

It would really be nice if we could see Great Food Live again on the air. It was a world's first. A uniuqe LIVE, DAILY food programme! The loss hof this program has really made all of UKTV less appealing.

Even if it has to be re-runs while a new series is produced, that would be fine. And it doesn't have to be on UKTVFood if it can't be fit in between all the old repeats currently being shown.

Hear, hear bookey. Fresh change, isn't it! But is she permanent?

Maybe that explains all the changes and switcheroos lately on Market Kitchen. It's hard to say actually who the permanent hosts are/will be. Have the producers received an ultimatum? The frenetic changing of hosts is weird.

Jun has such an air of serenlty when presneting. He is so cogent and lucid that you immediately "get" what he's doing. I used to love when he was on gFL and it's great he's on Market Kitchen - is he permanent or just yet another "trial" presenter?

Like jackw, I also do not want "celebrities" cooking on any programme, much less MK. I'm sick to death of over-exposed, telegenic "talent" being thrust upon us constantly. Let's keep it real, please.

Aggie was dreadful.

I bought a lovely Emil Henri tagine a couple years back and it is so striking I've only used it as an ornament in my kitchen! I'm actually afraid to use it as I fear it will be ruined or permanently scorched but the above has given me new courage!

While there are many who like Market Kitchen, I would just like to submit that very few cookery shows that I've experienced in the past have demonstrated the same, uncanny ability of Market Kitchen to simply irritate great chunks of the viewership. It's really quite incredible. The reasons seem to vary wildly, but for me it's the revolving door of poor presenters they keep thrusting in our faces.

Well with Tana now gone I think there is real hope for this TV show. I would always switch it off when I saw that she was on for the week. Awful.

It has certainly been a slow and painful process but there finally does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel. Smile

Odd Gordon never put her on The F word, his mother's been on three times that I can recall.

Isn't there a way they could inject SOME interesting elements into Market Kitchen?

I'm with you, GFL was one of the best food programmes ever developed. It was lighthearted, fun, humourous and a complete joy to watch. I also learnt a great deal from it becuase it was so entertaining. Sorry, Market Kitchen is too boring and dry for me, it doesn't hold a candle to GFL. They should just get rid of it.

Jumberjack, I too wish for the day they bring back GFL. That would be terrific. MK does indeed have its fairshare of untalented presenters, that's why it has that "unprofessional feel" as you call it.

Many do indeed detest this show, some for the reasons you have stated but also for many, many other reasons too. For me, it's the recipes themselves. Nothing that inspires me to cook, really.

So I also seriously wish they would bring back Good Food Live, for me it was informative, entertaining, fun, professional and well presented !

I just bought "1080 Recipes". It's wonderful. Spanish cooking from A to Z.

I'm glad you feel the same way sweet11, I think it's surprising how well they do, really.

The puddings are very lovely indeed.

That's the point I was trying to make, bazza12, the recipes on this show are all so uninspiring. It started early on with that spate of various "fish pies" but has continued for the duration. Is it the chefs perhaps? Are they allowed free reign as to what they will cook? Maybe that's why there's so much of this samphire, chervil root and squirrel nonsense being aired of late.

I'll leave it to Ina Garten for inspiration, I guess. British food shows are getting worse and worse it seems.

I couldn't go as far as that. While I detest Market Kitchen and don't watch it, I think there are many lovely cooking shows being broadcast at the moment.

Boring? Good heavens what other show could present us with a foie gras, squirrel and rattlesnake terrine on a bed of chervil root and carrot tops??

Unwatchable? Compelling recipes! Develish

I couldn't agree more, babsky, about them having to get back to basics. MK is now all over the place, I sense it is deperation trying to find something that works.

The live element is what made GFL great. But it did require an exceptional talent to pull it off. The impromptu discussion, mini-interview, clarifying questions done on the fly has to be left to an expert like Jeni BArnett.

I don't see any such talent currently in UKTVFood's shoebox.

Gastro, *very creative* and very funny. But hardly back to basics? Instead, I think they could perhaps use roulette wheels and or even do it from the track and have the winning horse select from the raft of "quality presenters" we currently are suffering through.

Gosh, how tired are we of Market Kitchen that we are all hallucinating...oh, but we can always watch Gary Rhodes, I forgot.

I too enjoy RSC in all its variations really, although it does seem now more "panic stricken". I just chalked that up to Ainsley....

I've always liked food programmes that involve some form of competition, to me it makes it more entertaining.
