Please can someone suggest how i can best use a white truffle ! I would prefer no rissotto! The last time I did that every one was sat waiting and watching every move I made ! I am feeding 6.So grating or slicing on to the food is the ideal - any suggestions? Then a delicious pud without truffle!!Thank you so much!

Thank you to both Cheese obsessive and Rosti for your suggestions - I actually used them both and was thoroughly enjoyed by all - I did the mushroom recipe as the starter and then followed with the pasta.I always find this sort of meal quite frightening as I much prefer to do as much cooking in advance but when truffle is the star ingredient you cant - generally! Any way everyone was very happy and then we had a selection of cheese and biscuits and then sticky toffee puddings and then coffee! (must admit to not like doing the pudding before the cheese but that is evidently how the Italians do it!! although someone will tell me differently!!??)

Ok you UKTVFOOD programme planners or who ever is responsible for axing our show with Jeni please tell us what we have to do to keep our Good Food Live programmes on the air? If you are not listening to all these good folks letting you know that you are about to make the worst decision of your lives you must be pretty heartless people.I just hope someone else can get Jeni back on the air soon on another channel where we can all watch her again - very soon. You have got to be mad - or maybe it is all to do with money ? I think we deserve a better explanation than what you have so far put forward.

Just tears - so sorry - you will never have anything better to replace Jeni - please wish Jeni loads of happiness as that is what she gave us. I hope a knight in shining armour comes along and sweeps her off to a tv channel where she can do the same as she has been doing where she will be appreciated.

Who in their right mind would get rid of such a popular programme and I have been wracking my brains about who would ? All I can think of is that maybe it is because of money - because it is costing alot of money to run GFL - if this is so and maybe the chefs who are on cost alot and maybe the ingredients and the wine and anyone they have on cost alot - if this is the case - surely sponsors could be found - who would love the advertising that they would get - and companies who GFL plug they could also be expected to pay up . Maybe I might be a million miles from the correct answer but because we havent been given a good enough reason and GFL is going to be replaced by a programme done in a market - maybe the programmers think they will save money this way. But if they loose all their viewers they are not going to gain anything. It is such a fantastic programme some one should rescue it - and Jeni. Maybe this has all been said - but the other posts are not there for me to look back to them all. I am just going to really really miss this programme.

I have watched the show for so long it had become part of my day ! Feel really let down in losing this show with Jeni and all the folks who were on the show with her - they were so interesting .Every chef who came on was always made to relax by Jeni - they were always put at ease by her brilliant presenting - now this has gone - it would not be possible to replace it with anything that would be better - just really sad that this could possibly happen.
I wondered if I had heard right when I heard some tv person say that UKTV had just paid millions to get Ant and Dec on to their programmes? I seriously hope that this is not got anything to do with taking GFL off the air??
It was a lovely show yesterday although very moving! Not sure what i will be watching now - probably go back to BBC1 and 2. Good Luck Jenni in what ever you do - I hope your talent is not wasted and thank you also to all who appeared with you - a big kiss to them all!!

This is for KIM 15 if you get this message - you said you had missed the last show - well you may be in luck because generally they re play the day befores programme at about or around 7 am so it may go out on monday morning (tommorrow) or it may be tuesday. As this is a week of the best of GFL of course they may not do that this week. It was a really good last show so I didnt want you to not see it - because i would have been upset if i hadnt seen it. Hope you do get to see it.

I totally agree with Ricky2! These programmes are just another form of bullying! I hate them - why do the people who make these programmes think we like to watch someone feeling uncomfortable - how Gordon Ramsays programme is popular I will never know! I hate it when we have to wait in a great silence before we are told who is the winner out of 3 people who have all slaved their guts out! I think Anne Robinson has a lot to answer to - we never used to have programmes like these. This is why GFL was good because it was fun and we all learnt something and everyone was made to feel really special; who came on the show.Sorry thats just how I feel!

I think i may be highly suspicious of this fact that somehow we lost something that was so imformative, entertaining and life changing even. that was to be replaced with something no where near as good. I am wondering still if money is at the route of this - as may be someones husband(GR)! thought that he could produce something better so knocked GFL off the top spot by putting lots of money up but had to remove Jenny in order to take over! - but he still wants to keep Jennys followers? Am I getting close? I still dont see why there isnt room for both so we could still have GFL! Waitrose have definitly backed the wrong horse in my opinion!

I feel as fervently as you do Mand1966 - it is just so frustrating to be treated as we all have been., its like banging your head against a brick wall and being steamrollered over the top as well!!I personally think it is all down to whos got the money they think they can just muscle in and think they can just take over! - there just seems there is nothing we can do about it - unless someone knows differently????

Yes - Carol cake - the company who is producing it called Optomen also did The F word and Gordon Ramsays Nightmares - so maybe they thought they could just walk in and take off with all the GFL fans - well it hasnt worked!

How can they tell how many people are watching a programme? Please could some one tell me? Apart from the fact it is going out at the wrong time in the evening when there are other popular programmes at the same time going out - can there really be more than 10? Not that I would watch it if it did go out at another time because i do not find it interesting enough - so sorry!

What on earth can we do about this? Somebody must have a solution - I will email Terry like some one else has done and see if he can help us find someone who could start up GFL with Jenny at the helm. They could still produce this programme - if they insist - but we could still have GFL going out at the same times it always did. I just feel that we are being forced to accept something that we dont want - maybe the Ramsays are trying to take over as many cookery programmes as they can - bit like what Tesco's are doing to us! Those people who have said that we havent given it enough time could not possibly have watched GFL for very long because they just wouldnt put up with this pre recorded programme instead of GFL which was live and so much fun! I am sorry I know it cant be easy for Tana Ramsay but you will just never take Jennys place - sorry - sometimes you cant always do things better than other people - where it just comes natually to perform - it is a gift! and Jenny had this gift as anyone would tell you that when Jenny took a break GFL wasnt the same, Sorry ! Please some one tell someone somewhere who has some influence who can bring back GFL - MK can still broadcast we are not trying to stop that - just bring GFL back! Sorry!

I have read all the posts and feel really let down by UKTVFOOD that they can not come forward and say something - I know that this series will probably have to run its course because they have pre recorded it and spent their money in doing so - but please can some one have the decency of just saying enough is enough and tell us that they made a mistake and that GFL will be back in a few weeks after Jeni has had a small break. That is all we nead to hear. Could someone in UKTVFOOD please just try to see what GFL loyal fans are trying to tell you - and it is not just in this country it is watched in Australia and Europe, you have upset so many people. This is a plea from the heart - I miss all those lovely people who appeared on GFL - that was called entertaining with imformation! Please give us some good news. I still dont see why GFL cant be telivised as well if you must keep Market Kitchen., run them both then you wont upset anyone>

Not sure Paddy J. if you have just said that to wind us up or maybe you are a relative of M.Tebbutt or someone else connected with MK ?The reason that we keep asking to bring back Jeni and GFL is because we genuinely miss it and dont think MK is a good enough substitute. We feel very let down by UKTVFOOD. So please let us keep telling them that we would like them to bring GFL and Jeni back in the vain hope that someone will see sense and do just that, we certainly do not want them to think that we enjoy MK when we positively don't. Please, also do not be so rude about our fantastic chefs - the ones I saw on the first week of Mk just looked so amateurish and they all had some connection with Gordon Ramsay, sorry but we all dont think he is the best thing on tv either. I have not watched MK since that first week but i should still be allowed to make a comment here- even if they keep removing the negative comments. You obviously have not a clue about good, inspiring, informative, entertainment which GFL was - a joy to watch.

Sorry Grove but Jeni we were told was having a well deserved rest in the US of A she may still be a way - but I picked up the fact that she was as upset as all of us at GFL finishing - in fact for her to even talk about it comming to an end she found it very difficult. I am just hoping that UKTV sees sense and gets her back and they can still film MK as well as they have filmed them in advance so we have the choice of what to watch but I am sorry but I just feel that the Ramsay family are taking over - a bit like Tesco and dont see why i have to have something I dont want to watch. GFL was a completely different programme - it was entertaining imformation and i just looked forward to it any time i was able to watch the tv. I am very disappointed with Waitrose - it picked the wrong one to sponsor - why couldnt they sponsor gfl?

Sorry Caroline but so many of us have given you constructive criticism in fact the best and easiest one was from happy cook - just do some re runs of GFL with Jeni! I personally have given up on Mk - I am sorry the only thing that would make me feel better now is if you let us know who was the person responsible for removing GFL from our screens and put them in some stocks in London and I could then travel all the way to London and throw some rotton tomatoes at him this is the only way I can lay this to rest - unless of course you tell us that you have decided that you will bring back GFL due to popular demand. I am sorry - you could still show the pre recorded programmes that you have done of MK at the same time - then you would keep everyone happy. I think because who ever it was who did make that awful decision has not had the guts to come forward and just give us their reasons we just feel terribly let down. I really miss GFL - sorry., and there is nothing to watch that comes close on UKTVFOOD. I am sorry please just admit you have got it wrong - its not difficult.

Please could someone come forward from UKTVFOOD and tell us for what reason you delete any comments made against MK? What is the point of us being able to make comments which are supposed to help you produce the programmes that we watch! Where did my posting go that I did yesterday I wonder? Or have you got someone in charge of this website who hasnt a clue what they are doing.? You have deleted so much - there are days missing and even hours of postings missing - you are even going to ruin this now- dont you think you have upset us enough?

Best news I have heard in ages about UKTVFOOD Bright Ideas doing re runs of both Good Food Live and Food Uncut! I have set the sky+ to record each one so I dont miss them!! So at least now there will be something decent to watch when ever we want to!! What a relief! Thank you to who ever was responsible ! Now we will just have to wait until they record some fresh ones with Jeni! ! Thank you !

I have an unsmoked English gammon joint which weighs around 2 kg . I have looked up in various cookery books the exact directions how to do this and so far I have got about 10 different ways! I would like to know if it weighs 2 kg say how many mins per kg or per 1lb do I simmer it for ? Then after the simmering I know I should leave it in the water till it goes cold then there are various things i can then do to it to put it in the oven with eiter honey and mustard or sugar an d mustard and then roast it for once again different times! Also there are different things to put in the water there are different liquids to cook it in whether it is cider, cocacola or water or even just apple juice! So in order to get this right I nead someone who does this regularly as they will know what works!! Please could any of you out there let me know how you cope with a gammon joint for the best flavour?

Please can anyone give any advise on whether induction hobs are a good idea? I have a halogen ceramic hob at the moment and i have such trouble getting the right heat. I know induction is faster and i will also have to get new pans - but if anyone can tell me what they think about them and which models do they rate? thank you - rosey

thank you all so much for your input all very interesting on induction hobbs. I had a very small win on the lottery so decided to get one or two things for my kitchen rather than it just disappearing with nothing to show for it! I was still unsure about which hob although i knew it could not be gas and the ceramic halagen hob that i have just has me absolutly demented! I have got an engineer comming to have a look at it next week but i still think it will carry on behaving badly!
So i went and bought a Kenwood induction hob which is portable as long as you have an electric connection- it takes up 15" x 12" on the work surface with extra air space around it when you are using it. Well, it is fantastic! and it only cost £50 something! - I can trust a pan of new potatoes to carry on cooking if I run up the garden for something and it is so quick and you can time what ever you cook - so if you are busy doing something else it wont be over cooked say for instance you are cooking pasta you can put the timer on and when the time is up it switchs off - it is the answer for me! I wondered if you got a full hob with all induction
areas you could have a timer on each one. I had to check all my pans with a fridge magnet to see which ones i could use and I found that I will in time have to buy some more different sized pans .
I also bought a Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cooker which i will also be able to use on the induction hobb. Little bit more apprehensive at using this - but I believe that it will also be a good investment as soon as i work out the best things to cook in it??
So I did chicken out in taking that small step towards the induction hobb instead of swapping it straight away. I shall wait to see what the engineer says about my ceramic hallogen hobb and then i think i shall be heading to swap it for an induction hobb. I know both AEG and Neff do good ones but that is all i know at the moment. So thank you everyone for letting me know what you all think about the induction hobbs and i am so pleased that i did buy this small kenwood hobb - its just gorgeous!!
